Die Compilation „Moon Rocks“ habe ich HIER schon mal in der Tape-Version angerissen. Vor kurzem ist dann auch das passende Vinyl auf dem heimischen Plattenteller gelandet. Das ist mir dann natürlich ein paar neue Zeilen wert. Effortless Audio und Gudo Rewinds haben den Sampler mit dem cannabishaltigen Namen über den japanischen Crowdfunder QRATES in ein Vinyl verwandeln lassen.
Der Sleepdealer hat für die Instrumental Hip Hop Compilation insgesamt 22 Tracks kuratiert. Entstanden ist dabei ein Album voller Lo-Fi Beats, dass auf Vinyl noch mal eine Nummer besser klingt und bei dem es sich herrlich entspannen lässt. Meine Wertung: 8/10. Favoriten: „Smika – Fragrant“, „HM Surf – Instant Brew“, „Mr. Santé – Treasure“ und „Linanthem – Better Off“. Käuflich erwerben kann man „Moon Rocks“ beim allseits bekannten Online-Dealer HHV Records.

The Jazz Jousters – Operation Six (Millennium Jazz Music)
Zum sechsjährigen Bestehen der Jazz Jousters ist im Dezember 2018 die Compilation „The Jazz Jousters – Operation Six“ über das englische Label Millennium Jazz Music (MJM138) erschienen. Die Vorfinanzierung (aka Crowdfunding) und Herstellung wurden erneut über den japanischen Vinyl-Dienstleiter QRATES abgewickelt. Das avisierte Ziel waren knappe 100 Kopien. Genau 252 Exemplare wurden dann auf der Zielgeraden unter die Leute gebracht.
Für die aktuelle 2LP hat das Jousters-Kollektiv 18 süperbe Instrumental Tracks produziert. Auch zum 6. Geburtstag überzeugt die Jazz Combo um Pawcut, Gadget, SmokedBeat, Slone und Co. wieder mit jazzigen Hip Hop Beats inkl. swingender Samples. Abermals ein großartiges Doppel-Album aus dem Hause MJM. Meine Wertung: 9/10. Favoriten: „Soupbox – Days“, „Says Who? – Dusk ft. Vicky Flint“, „SmokedBeat – This Is Love“, „B3NBi – React Accordingly“ und „Type.Raw (Loop.Holes) – Away“.

Seit der letzten Kassetten-Schau ist wieder einiges an Tapes im Vinyl-41-HQ gelandet oder wieder aufgetaucht. Satte acht MCs habe ich für „Tapes 04 2019“ ausgewählt. Darunter drei Magnetbänder, die mir besonders am Herzen liegen. „PRGMAT – Happy Herbal Harvest“ (Tapeinvader), „Morti Viventear – Dumpster Funk Vol. 1“ und die Staubsound Rakete „Franz Branntwein – Inject tha raw shit“ sind meine heimlichen Favoriten-Tapes in 2019. Instrumentals vom Feinsten. Aber der „Rest“ ist natürlich auch eine Empfehlung wert.

»Dumpster Funk is a beat tape series aimed for rappers and 90’s hip hop heads missing the vibe of the boom bap era. This stylistic exercise is a tribute to the producers that inspired me growing up. Fans of Pete Rock, Buckwild, Premier, Havoc, Lord Finesse and Large Professor should definitely dig this 60 minutes funk/jazz/soul sample fest. It was entirely produced from analogue sources and vintage equipment, the old-fashioned way. From the record, through the 12bit sampler, straight to the 4-track. I chose the cassette format to remain true to the medium of choice of this era.«

Franz Branntwein – Inject tha raw shit (Staubound)
Nachdem Vol. 1 „nur“ digital erschienen ist, hat es „The Jazz Hop Conspiracy Vol. 2“ auf ein Double-Vinyl geschafft. Die Compilation wurde im September 2018 über das Label S!X – Music veröffentlicht. Über eine anschliessende Crowdfunding-Kampagne bei QRATES wurde die Pressung finanziert. Schmale 100 Kopien waren das auserkorenen Ziel und 174 Exemplare wurde am Ende produziert. Im Februar 2019 ist die 2LP dann endlich im Vinyl-41-HQ gelandet und hat seit dem schon einige Rotationen auf dem Buckel.
Meine Wertung
Für das Doppel-Album „The Jazz Hop Conspiracy Vol. 2“ hat Fabian Bühler aka. Fab Beat einen richtig guten Job gemacht. Er hat 29 Beatschmiede und sich selbst auf die Platten gepackt. Herausgekommen ist dabei eine exzellente Compilation mit großartigen Produktionen von LeVirya, Mono:Massive, Handbook, Mr. Käfer, Isaac Haze, Devaloop, Wilczynski, Remulak und vielen mehr. Auf den Seiten A – D ist ein Mix aus vielen Stilen zu hören. Eines haben sie aber gemeinsam: Fette Beats mit jazzigen Samples und einer Priese Soul. Hamma!
Meine Wertung: 9/10. Favoriten: „LeVirya – Lids, Muggles & Smokin‘ Sides“, „Handbook – Go Outside“, „Mr. Käfer – Thoughts“ und „Hundertmark Beatz – Cold Peppermint“. Bei HHV Records und VinDig sind noch ein paar – der ursprünglichen 174 – Kopien verfügbar. Pro-Tipp: Zugreifen!

Das Paket mit der „Hip Dozer Compilation vol.3“ hat mich echt überrascht. Denn es war nicht nur das erwartete Vinyl enthalten, sondern auch ein Plastiktütchen aus dem Hause CBD420. Den Inhalt der kleinen Beigabe haben wir natürlich sofort vernichtet und die Platte verrichtet seit dem ihren Dienst im Vinyl-41-HQ. Veröffentlicht wurde das gute Stück vom französischen Label Hip Dozer Records (HD004). Der Sampler ist mit einer Auflage von 300 Kopien erschienen. Die Herstellung des Vinyl wurde erneut über QRATES abgewickelt.
Hip Dozer hat für die hauseigene Compilation wieder einiges an hochkarätigen Beatschmieden versammelt, um beide Seiten des Vinyl zu füllen. Cookin‘ Soul, Kazam, Handbook, Ødyssee, Karmawin, Awhlee und viele mehr haben ihre Instrumental Hip Hop Tracks für vol.3 beigesteuert. Wie schon bei den erstenbeiden Teilen besticht auch die aktuelle Ausgabe mit chilligen Beats und jazzig souligen Samples von mir bekannten und unbekannten Produzenten, aber alles noch einen ticken besser. Das schlägt sich natürlich umgehend auf meine Bewertung nieder. Punktgewinn.
Meine Wertung: 9/10. Favoriten: „Cookin‘ Soul – Cute Bartender“, „Handbook – End Credits“, „Lofi Coffee – A Little Of This“ und Boulevard 95 – Sunset Bouvelard. Auf der Bandcamp-Seite des Label sind noch ein paar Exemplare verfügbar. Schnell zuschlagen, es lohnt sich!
