Mal nicht (nur) über Bandcamp, sondern über Kickstarter wurde das Projekt „(Prod. by) A photo book about making beats“ zur Unterstützung veröffentlicht. Robert Winter, einer der bekanntesten Fotografen der deutschen bzw. deutschsprachigen Beatszene, hat diese sensationelle Crowdfunding-Kampagne gestartet.
»(Prod. by) ist das Buch dieser Szene, ein Bildband mit Fotos aus dem Beatmaker-Jahrzehnt: ikonische Plattencover, private Momente und unveröffentlichtes Material aus dem Archiv des Fotografen Robert Winter.«
Wie immer kann man verschiedene Pakete unterstützen. Von 5 bis 1.500 Euro ist alles möglich. Ich habe mich natürlich für „(Prod. by) + Excl. Vinyl Compilation“ entschieden. Jetzt heisst es bis Februar 2020 warten und vorfreuen. Unterstützt das mal, es lohnt sich, versprochen!

Jetzt, wo der Sommer fast vorbei ist, da komme auch ich endlich mit den „Chillhop Essentials Summer 2019“ um die Ecke. Aber besser spät als nie oder so. Die sommerliche 2LP ist über Chillhop Records erschienen. Um die Herstellung und den Vertrieb hat sich die japanische Crowdfunding-Butze QRATES gekümmert. Insgesamt wurden 2.000 Kopien in weinrotes Polyvinylchlorid gepresst. Das handnummerierte Gatefold-Cover wurde von Tristan Gion gestaltet.
Die aktuelle Sommer-Edition überzeugt mit 24 Instrumentals, die von Chillhop-Legende Philanthrope gemastert wurden. Erneut sorgen mir bekannte und unbekannte Produzenten mit allerlei tonerzeugenden Geräten für eine entspannte Stimmung. Die Beats sind wieder enorm warm und chillig und mit jazzigen Samples aufgehübscht. Grandioser Sampler, exzellente Essentials, der Herbst kann kommen. Meine Wertung: 9/10. Favoriten: „sleepy fish – for when it’s warmer“, „junior state – Nice and Easy“ und „Leavv – Driftwood“.

Nach dem grandiosen ersten Teil liegt mit „Beats on Road Vol. 2“ die nicht minder grossartige zweite Underground-Compilation von DLTLLY und ear-sight auf dem heimischen Plattenteller. Erschienen ist die Berliner U1-Sinfonie über das Independent Music Label Vinyl Digital (VinDig397). Lediglich 300 Kopien wurden von dem U-Bahn-Sampler gepresst. Da heisst es einfach nur: Verrückt bleiben! und zuschlagen!
Alle Beats schon mal bei YouTube gesehen und gehört. Nicht viel neues also. Und trotzdem klingen die 10 Instrumental Hip Hop Tracks auch auf dem zweiten Vinyl nochmal neu und um einiges besser. Die Anschaffung hat sich also wieder deutlichst gelohnt. Schon allein der gut gewählte Opener von Hentzup entschädigt für den zu zahlenden Anschaffungswiderstand. Aber auch der „Rest“ der Produktionen von Psalm Trees, Melodiesinfonie, Tom Doolie und Co. weiss mehr als zu zugefallen. Exzellentes Vinyl, dass Hunger auf mehr macht!
Meine Wertung: 10/10. Favoriten: „Hentzup – Like Subways“, „Supreme.Frost – What I Say“ und „Awlnight – Cruisin“. Erhältlich ist die Platte exklusiv in den Online-Shops von VinDig und DLTLLY/ear-sight.

Für „Tapes 08 2019“ sind acht satte Tapes am Start. Alle Kassetten, die ich hier und jetzt vorstelle, sind eine absolute Empfehlung aus dem Vinyl-41-HQ. Aus dieser Qualitätsmasse haben sich jedoch drei Tapes herauskristallisiert, die ich als persönliche Highlights bezeichnen und extra erwähnen möchte: „Dj Pirna – TableDanceFlightSimulator (Former City Records)“, „Mr. Backside – Backsides V (Amajin Records)“ und „Joeseph Hill x johnEkwest – Anthropozän (LabOhr)“. Die drei Magnetbänder sind vielleicht nicht deutlich besser als der „Rest vom Schützenfest“, aber irgendwie erfrischend anders.

Nach beat collective rotiert mit „Raw Suppliers – TANDEM“ (DB067) das zweite Vinyl der nordeutschen Rohstofflieferanten im Vinyl-41-HQ. Auch diese Compilation ist über das Berliner Underground Hip-Hop Label Dezi-Belle erschienen. Insgesamt wurden 460 Exemplare in eine feine Auswahl buntestem Polyvinylchlorid gepresst: 100x 12″ Vinyl black, 100x grey / yellow SPLIT, 100x grey / yellow marbled, 75x grey, 75x yellow und 10x 4 color. Da hat man die berühmte Qual der Wahl.
Für die zweite LP des Beat Collective sind 13 Tracks von 26 verschiedenen Künstlern am Start. Tag Team Action und ein Mix der Stile vom allerfeinsten. Boom Bap, Electro, Lo-Fi, Chillhop und alles durcheinander … großartige Beats und Samples von vorn bis hinten. BTW: Auch für das Artwork war mit Andre Finn x Karla-Jean v. Wissel ein Duo verantwortlich, dass ebenso exzellent abgeliefert hat. Meine Wertung: 9/10. Favoriten: „ddob x tribegut feat. yana – dividing 0“, „oskar hahn x wox – gergedan“ und „snaer. x beressi – sametalking“.
