Jetzt auch noch Tapes? Eigentlich sollte es sich bei Vinyl 41 nur um die gute alte Schallplatte drehen. Da ich jetzt hin und wieder ein paar Kassetten im Briefkasten vorfinde, werde ich das ganze Thema ein kleines bisschen aufweichen. Auf einen weiteren Blog à la “Tape 41″ habe ich gerade keine Böcke. Und irgendwie passen Vinyl und Musikkassette ganz gut zusammen. Hauptsache analog!
ist das vierte Album des Wiener Beatschmieds. Ob das irgendwie zusammenhängt? Hmmm … wie auch immer ;-) Das süperbe Tape ist über das Independent Record Label beatsupply erschienen. Die 16 Tracks mit Beats zwischen LoFi und Boom Bap passen perfekt auf den analogen Datenträger aka Kassette. Durchweg guter Stuff, aus dem sich für mich drei Favoriten herauskristallisiert haben: „Little Crown“, „Dolls Minus Five“ und „In Every Move“.
Die Kassette, die ich wärmstens empfehlen kann, könnt ihr euch direkt beim Label oder bei Bandcamp zulegen. Aber schnell und so … es sind nur noch wenige Tapes verfügbar.

Frau Finger und Shinobi (We Keep Shit Dope Records)
Mit „Frau Finger“ und „Shinobi“ möchte ich euch gleich zwei Tapes, die vor kurzem über We Keep Shit Dope Records erschienen sind, ans Herz legen. „Frau Finger“ ist eine Compilation der We Keep Shit Dope Posse, auf der unter anderem so illustre Betaschmiede wie Baronski, King Katalogas und Acid Kalle zu hören sind. Insgesamt haben es 14 fette Boom Bap Beats auf die Kassette geschafft. Das Magnetband ist im August 2019 erschienen und auf 100 Kopien limitiert.
Im September 2019 wurde das Solo-Debüt „Sha One – Shinobi“ ebenfalls über WKSDR veröffentlicht. Der Münsteraner Beatschmied aus dem Illage Gang Umfeld, der den obigen Label Sampler schon mit zwei Tracks bereicherte, hat für sein erstes Beattape zehn Anspielstationen produziert. Die rohen und boombappigen MPC Beats, die sich thematisch mit einem japanischen Landesfürsten aus dem 13. Jahrhundert beschäftigen, sind schon extrem Doper Shit. Für mich ist „Shinobi“ eines der besten und interessantesten Tapes des Jahres 2019. Das Ding ist auf schmale 50 analoge Datenträger limitiert. Haut rein!

Für diese Ausgabe haben es 67 (mir) bekannte und unbekannte Beatschmiede auf den analogen Datenträger geschafft. Für „Tapes 08 2019“ sind acht satte Tapes am Start. Alle Kassetten, die ich hier und jetzt vorstelle, sind eine absolute Empfehlung aus dem Vinyl-41-HQ. Aus dieser Qualitätsmasse haben sich jedoch drei Tapes herauskristallisiert, die ich als persönliche Highlights bezeichnen und extra erwähnen möchte: „Dj Pirna – TableDanceFlightSimulator (Former City Records)“, „Mr. Backside – Backsides V (Amajin Records)“ und „Joeseph Hill x johnEkwest – Anthropozän (LabOhr)“. Die drei Magnetbänder sind vielleicht nicht deutlich besser als der „Rest vom Schützenfest“, aber irgendwie erfrischend anders.

The sample-heavy album scores with gritty drums, a handful of vocal flips and a mellow vibe reminiscent of the ’90s. The first track „Ni Ad Bulc“ comes with a classic Boombap sound, which on the following tracks has to give way to a mixture of dirty lofi elements and dirty pumping drums. Tracks like „Sippin“ or „Plants“ drive this with their double-time character to the extreme.«
