Kayo x Slone – The Nap #3 (Millennium Jazz Music)

Nachdem hier schon #1 und #2 eingezogen sind und immer noch oft laufen, war #3 schon fast ein Blindkauf. Und was soll ich sagen, richtige Entscheidung. Auch „Kayo x Slone – The Nap #3“ enttäuscht in keinster Weise. Die beiden französischen Beatschmiede haben jeweils sieben Tracks voller Liebe produziert. Relaxte Beats mit jazzigen und souligen Samples wissen voll zu gefallen und sind auf beiden Seiten des kompakten Magnetbandes zu finden. Somit reiht sich auch #3 ganz locker in mein Favoriten-MC-Regal ein. Das Splittape ist wieder über das Label Millennium Jazz Music (MJM145) erschienen und ist dort auch erhältlich. Aber es wurden nur 50 Kopien angefertigt … haut rein.

Pardon My French: On The Radar Vol. 3

Nach Kanada und Good Old Germany ist jetzt Frankreich auf dem Radar von Millennium Jazz Music erschienen. Für Pardon My French: OTR Vol. 3 durften sich 17 französische Produzenten mit ihren Instrumental Hip Hop Tracks auf dem Tape verewigen. Neben den mir schon bekannten Beatschmieden Slone, L’indécis, KarmawiN und Kayo gab es wieder viel zu entdecken. Erneut eine sehr schöne Compilation vom Londoner Label Millennium Jazz Music. Die Kassette könnt ihr direkt bei Bandcamp bestellen. Aber ziemlich zügig, denn das Ding ist auf 100 Kopien limitiert! Für OTR Vol. 4 geht es dann Richtung Osten: „With Love From Russia Coming Soon…“

Für das Album Gadget – Nightfall hat der Label-Boss von Millennium Jazz Music höchstpersönlich die Produktion, den Mix und das Mastering übernommen. Chefsache! Im Jahr 2015 erstmalig digital und auf Kassette erschienen, erlebte Nightfall 2018 die vinyle Wiederauferstehung. Über Crowdfunding Plattform QARTES wurden 100 Kopien anvisiert. 155 sind es dann im Endeffekt geworden. Bei Bandcamp, HHV oder VinDig könnt ihr euch euer persönliches Exemplar sichern. Lohnt sich, mal wieder!

Wertung

Meine Wertung: 9/10 für Gadget – Nightfall. So kulturell vielfältig wie die britische Hauptstadt London ist, so vielfältig ist auch das Vinyl eines ihrer Bewohner. Gadget hat für sein Album 14 instrumentale Tracks produziert die Beats und Samples aus Hip Hop, Jazz und sogar eine Priese Reggae beinhalten. Mal melancholisch, mal chillig, mal Party pur … man merkt den Instrumentals von Nightfall an, dass sie überwiegend in den Nachstunden produziert wurden. Sehr schön, das Gadget an diesem Album aus 2015 besonders hängt und es dadurch eine Chance auf dieses grossartige Vinyl bekommen hat. So muss das.

Favoriten: In Tha Shoobz, Pisz Ci Twój Sen (You Write Your Dream) und J.O.B. (The Job I Love)

The Jazz Jousters – Fifth Element

Die Compilation The Jazz Jousters – Fifth Element ist hier im Blog schon mal als Kassette (Sold out!) aufgetaucht. Eine günstige Gelegenheit hat dann jetzt auch das passende Doppel-Vinyl im Vinyl-41-HQ aufschlagen lassen. Gute Entscheidung, denn: vinyl sounds better! Über QRATES hat Millennium Jazz Music 300 Kopien anfertigen lassen. Ein paar Exemplare sind noch auf der Bandcamp-Seite des Londoner Labels verfügbar.

Meine Wertung: 9/10 für The Jazz Jousters – Fifth Element. Für das Album, dass im Jahr 2017 anlässlich des 5. Geburtstages der Jazz Jousters veröffentlicht wurde, wurde wieder ordentlich aufgetischt. 20 oldschoolige Tracks mit jazzigen Beats und Samples hat das Kollektiv vom Label Millenium Jazz Music für das Birthday Spectacle produziert. Wer die Jousters und/oder jazzy Instrumental Hip Hop mag, der sollte sich das grossartige Doppel-Album unbedingt zulegen. Beide Daumen hoch!
