Meine Wertung: 8/10 für Veks – Consolation. Der Beatschmied aus Vista/California hat für die Nr. 1 (MCR001) seines Labels Missing Children Records 16 instrumentale Hip Hop Tracks produziert. Man merkt ihm die Mitgliedschaft im Last Jazz Club förmlich an. Jazzig soulige Beats und Samples wohin das Ohr auch hört. Starkes und sehr chilliges Debüt für die Plattenbutze von der Westküste.
Favoriten: Sum Ta Say, In Heaven und Money Folder Makin
Über den Instagram Account von Emune_, der hier vor kurzem mit US_TWO unterwegs war, bin ich auf das Album Always Proper – Bumps & Bruises 2 gestossen. Eine wirklich starke Compilation, die ich gern als Vinyl oder wenigstens auf Kassette gesehen hätte. Vertrieben wird der Sampler von Ploom als Download oder als USB Drive für 25 US-Währungseinheiten (zzgl. Versand). Die Hardware sieht schon irgendwie schick designt aus. Aber der Sinn erschliesst sich mir nicht so wirklich. Ob Download oder USB Drive, es bleibt doch digital, oder?! Egal!

Fazit Tapes #36
Dieses mal schlägt Klasse die Masse. Aber ganz knappe Kiste. Die beiden Sampler WE by MONKED FAM und OMBILIC TAPE IV bieten wieder massenhaft Produzenten, die insgesamt 61 Tracks ohne grosse Schwächen auf zwei Kassetten magnetisiert haben. Aber das kleine Holland hat dieses mal, wenn auch mit minimalen Vorsprung, das Sieger-Tape hervorgebracht. Das superchillige Autumn Compilation Album hat mich mit seinen 9 Tracks so richtig verzaubert. LoFi Hip Hop zum Träumen.
Nach Jamais Vu ist Roberto Echo erneut für KO-OP (Melting Pot Music) unterwegs. Roberto Echo – Déjà-vu nennt sich sein neuestes Instrumental Hip Hop Album, dass wieder „nur“ digital veröffentlicht wurde. Trotzdem ist es natürlich eine Empfehlung wert.
