Hier mal wieder eine QRATES-Perle: Funky Notes – Scigns of Life. Das Doppel-Vinyl wurde über die japanische Crowdfundingbutze vorfinanziert. Als Label zeichnet sich Haus & Baum aus Zürich, Switzerland verantwortlich. 500 Kopien wurden von Scigns of Life angefertigt. Die Zeichnungen auf Cover und Vinyl stammen von Jasmine Eichmann. Bei Bandcamp, HHV oder VinDig kann man das vinyle Doppelalbum käuflich erwerben.

Meine Wertung: 8/10 für Funky Notes – Scigns of Life. Der Beatschmied aus der Schweiz hat für das Doppel-Vinyl nicht Haus und Baum verkauft, sondern die Platte über QRATES crowdfinaziert. Mag ich voll. 16 Instrumental Hip Hop Tracks haben auf den beiden Kunststoffscheiben Platz gefunden. Nicht zu chillige Beats und jazzige bis soulige Samples machen das ganze zu einer, nicht nur der Bauart geschuldeten, runden Sache mit voller Partytauglichkeit. Nach Narcotraficantes (mit Tom Doolie) ist Scigns of Life für mich das zweite musikalische Aha-Erlebnis von Funky Notes.

Über die Golden Ticket Tapes wollte ich schon lange mal ein paar Wörter verlieren. Warum also nicht jetzt? »Platform and magazine for lovers of finest instrumental hiphop, inspiring soundtracks, urban culture and laidback days.« So beschreibt man sich selbst. Zudem haben der oder die Macher noch eine andere Passion und die heisst Beat Tapes. Die Golden Ticket Tapes 001 – 003 sind bisher erschienen. Produziert wurden die ersten drei digitalen Alben von jeweils einem Beatschmied. IAMPAUL, Alfred Quest und Tilmann Jarmer heissen die Protagonisten, die richtig guten und chilligen Instrumental Hip Hop abgeliefert haben. Alle drei Teile stehen bei Bandcamp für jeweils 5 Euronen zum Download / Stream bereit. Ich bin schon voll gespannt, wann und mit wem Nr. 004 erscheinen wird.

Meine Wertung: 9/10 für The MJM Artists – Ruff Graft Revisited. Grossartiges Design, grandioses Line Up und 18 (19 bei Download /Stream und Kassette) fulminante Instrumental Hip Hop Tracks. Auf dieses Vinyl habe ich mich mal wieder so richtig gefreut. Die MJM Artists haben dieses Album aufgenommen, um dem phänomenalem Mr. James Dewitt Yancey aka J Dilla zu huldigen. Eigentlich nur für den „internen Gebrauch“ produziert, hat man sich zum Glück dazu entschlossen die Compilation der Öffentlichkeit zu präsentieren. Guter Move! Denn diese exzellente Scheibe gehört einfach auf die Plattenteller der Welt. „DJ! Spin that shit!“

Das ist mir schon ein wenig unangenehm. Soulmade – Kvintesenco (DC032) lag seit ein oder zwei Monaten unbeachtet auf meinem #todo-Stapel. Das hat die Platte aber echt nicht verdient. Nun aber schnell … Das Vinyl ist im Februar 2018 über das Label dailyconcept als Limited Edition mit 500 Kopien erschienen. Erhältlich ist der analoge Datenträger von Kvintesenco im Online-Shop von dailyconcept.

Meine Wertung: 8/10Soulmade – Kvintesenco. Der Beatschmied aus Reutlingen hat für das Album 14 Instrumental Hip Hop Tracks produziert, die wieder ordentlich Bass an Bord haben. Der auch als Rapper Damian von Chezz&DAM aktive Produzent, hat für den Nachfolger von One For: erneut ordentlich an seiner Hardware gedreht. Smoothe Boom Bap Beats treffen auf jazzige Samples, herrliche Mischung.
