Digginsack hat einen weiteren Teil der genialen Beatmaker-Serie veröffentlicht: Beat Battle Compilation Vol. 4. 20 Tracks haben es nach diversen Beat Battles auf die Compilation geschafft. Ob der Sampler, wie bei den Vorgängern üblich, auch als Kassette veröffentlicht wird, konnte ich bis jetzt noch nicht herausfinden. Schaun wir mal … Bis dahin kann man sich das digitale Album bei Bandcamp als „name your price“ Download bzw. Stream zulegen.

Der englische Beatschmied Vanilla ist mir das erste mal im Jahr 2015 über den musikalischen Weg gelaufen. Sein Album Origin hat mir schon sehr gefallen bzw. gefällt noch immer. Leider wurde es auf keinem analogen Datenträger verewigt. Das gleiche dachte ich auch vom Nachfolge-Album Vanilla – Moonlight, dass im Januar 2017 erschienen ist. Aber Vinyl Digital hat mich da eines besseren belehrt und Moonlight auf jeweils zwei White marbled Vinyl pressen lassen. So muss das!

Wertung

Meine Wertung: 8/10 für Vanilla – Moonlight. Das erste Vinyl Release des britischen Beat Smith, der auch auf dem Sampler Chillhop Essentials – Summer 2017 vertreten ist, hat es gleich in sich. 19 Tracks hat er für das vinyle Doppel-Album produziert. Chillige Beats und Samples aus Funk, Jazz, Electronic … Moonlight ist ein sehr ruhiges und facettenreiches Album geworden. Easy listening vom feinsten, perfekt für die abendliche Entspannung oder ein harmonisches Beisammensein.

HeMightBe – Interpellations EP

HeMightBe – Interpellations EP (Das Label mit dem Hund)

Die EP HeMightBe – Interpellations musste ich mir ein paar mal anhören, bevor eine positive Resonanz einsetzte. Das lediglich vier Tracks starke Beattape hat mich letztendlich so begeistert, dass ich mir dann auch die Kassette über Das Label mit dem Hund zugelegt habe. Und diese Begeisterung hält echt an. Interpellations ist mittlerweile auf Platz 2 meiner persönlichen Kassettencharts gestiegen. Auf Platz 1 steht immer noch Henrik3000 – Reefer Madness. Der Vollständigkeit halber: Platz 3 wird momentan von Entro// – 60k gehalten. Aber zurück zum heutigen Tape. Schon allein für die Voice Samples von Track 1 hat sich die Anschaffung gelohnt. „… Das war dann die Tante Lore. Und dann kam die rein mit der Schere und da habe ich der eine auf die Schnauze gehauen …“ Hamma! (Kennt jemand die Quelle?) Die Kassette ist mittlerweile leider ausverkauft, kann aber bei Bandcamp als „name your price“ Download/Stream abgeholt werden.

In his Interpellations EP HeMightBe addresses different worldviews or (sub-)cultures he was confronted with during his life – sometimes out of a critical and sometimes out of a benevolent perspective. Stylistically, he relies on a very individual combination of synthesizers on the one hand and samples from all around the world on the other hand. In this connection, he is supported by two feature guests: Georg Fleischfresser ennobles the song ‚Cruisin‘ With My Bicycle‘ with an inspiring saxophone solo. The Leipzig-based rapper bÄyz comes up with a fascinating fictitious story about the history of Hip Hop in the song ‚Mr. Magic‘.

Dr. Drumah – Drumahmental (IBMCs)

Das Album Dr. Drumah – Drumahmental wurde mir von Milorad Grubor aka MGgost empfohlen. Kurz reingehört und dann im November 2017 bei QRATES gecrowdfunded. Waitmode. Eigentlich schon wieder fast vergessen, wenn da nicht gestern der freundliche Postmann geklingelt und mir ein Paket mit jazzigem Inhalt überreicht hätte. Das Label IBMCs hat lediglich 200 Kopien über QRATES pressen lassen. Ein paar Exemplare könnt ihr noch bei den IBMCs direkt oder bei den gängigen Onlinehändlern wie HHV, VinDig oder Vinylism ergattern.

Wertung

Meine Wertung: 10/10 für Dr. Drumah – Drumahmental. Der brasilianische Beatschmied hat mit diesem Album ein richtiges Schmuckstück rausgehauen. Cover, Vinyl, Klang … da passt mal wieder alles. Laut Beschreibung nennt sich das Jazzhop. Passt! Jazzige Samples und Beats wohin das Ohr nur hört. Unterstützt von den Beatchukaz aus dem serbischen Novi Sad ist da eine richtig grossartige und entspannte Platte entstanden. Daumen hoch und volle Punktzahl!

Favoriten: Low Light (Feat. DJ Beatchukaz), Relax Your Mind und Spiritual Vibes

Das Label The Get Down Records, von dem ich hier schon die Kassetten Soul Summer by Oka Miles und The Get Down Vol.1 – Style Wars im Umlauf habe, solltet ihr echt im Auge behalten. Da entsteht was ganz grosses am Instrumental Hip Hop Himmel. Nach den beiden genannten Tapes hat jetzt drkmnd – Dust Loops meinen Radar erreicht. Der englische Beatschmied hat für Dust Loops 17 verstaubte Tracks gebastelt, die man für 4 britische Währungseinheiten bei Bandcamp als Download abholen kann. Für 5 GBP (exklusive Versand) gibt es die Kassette für die heimische analoge Musikanlage.
