Wertung

Meine Wertung: 9/10 für Step – Memory Lane. Auf dieses Album des Heidelberger Produzenten habe ich mich mal wieder so richtig vorgefreut. Denn der Vorgänger Footprint hat mich schon mal so richtig begeistert und Memory Lane setzt das locker fort. Die vielseitigen Instrumentals mit Boom Bap Beats im Style der 90er und live eingespielten Instrumenten lassen das Stimmungsbarometer auf und ab marschieren. Epochale Tracks wie Highlands und Memory Lane wechseln sich munter mit melancholischen (Beau Vallon) und freudestrahlenden (Eazy Liztening) Stücken ab. Die Vorfreude auf dieses Vinyl, dass von Stefen Chiodo (Drum und Dran) gemastert wurde, hat sich absolut gelohnt. Prädikat: Ganz grosses Buhai der Gefühle.

Marleau – The Leau Vault Vol. One

Über das Label EASTBLVD RECORDS aus Los Angeles, California, USA ist mal wieder eine kleine Instrumental Perle erschienen. Marleau – The Leau Vault Vol. One (EB009) nennt sich das Beattape, dass bei mir momentan sehr häufig im Einsatz ist. Der Beatsmith aus Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada hat für dieses digitale Album 10 Tracks mit Lo-fi Hip Hop Beats und total interessanten Samples und Voice-Schnipseln produziert. Großartiges Ding! Ihr könnt Euch das digitale Album als „name your price“ Download / Stream direkt bei Bandcamp zulegen.

BTW: Das Sample von Track 3 „Sleeping Giant“ kommt mir total bekannt vor. Weiss jemand, wo das schon mal verbastelt wurde? Danke! :-)

Neben KLIM beats scheint ein neuer ukrainischer Boom-Bap-Stern am Produzenten-Himmel aufzusteigen. BubbleWild – Long Story Short nennt sich die Platte des osteuropäischen Beatschmieds, die über das Label Vinyl Digital (VinDig355) erschienen ist. Lediglich 300 Kopien wurden gepresst. Meine Wertung: 8/10 für BubbleWild – Long Story Short. Die A-Seite des Vinyl enthält die durch Warpath, Ryler Smith, JakeGHNM und Samura Loré vollgerappten bzw. besungenen Beats des Produzenten aus Melitopol, Ukraine. Die Instrumentals sind dann auf der B-Seite zu finden. Das mir persönlich die B-Seite besser gefällt, ist euch doch klar, oder!? Die Boom-Bap-Beats mit krachenden Drums und verträumten Samples wissen auf dem Vinyl von BubbleWild echt zu gefallen. Prädikat: Solides Debüt.

Favoriten: Catch the Wave I, Lean Back (feat. Samura Loré) und Insomnia (Instrumental)

proud.palms – east.blue blvd

Im Dezember 2017 ist proud.palms – east.blue blvd als Kassette über das Kieler Label Tapeinvader erschienen. Im August 2018 hat der Plattenschnitzer vom slowakischen Label Kush Gong Vinyl das ganze nochmal auf 10inch Polyvinylchlorid veröffentlicht. 30 Kopien hat er vom warm.tea Nachfolder des Flensburger Beat Smith proud.palms angefertigt. Jetzt liegt das Ding – nach einer wahren Slovenská-pošta-DHL-Odyssee und leichten Lädierungen – endlich auf dem heimischen Plattendreher und klingt mit seinen Lo-fi Beats total gut. Interessiert? Lord Folter – ROUGE Instrumentals

Bevor demnächst die EP Lord Folter – Haut im Vinyl-41-HQ rotiert, „verliere“ ich noch kurz ein paar Worte über den durchaus grossartigen Vorgänger Lord Folter – ROUGE. Genau genommen dreht es sich um die Instrumentals, die ebenfalls 2017 über die Label-Kooperation Nyati / HHV Records (HHV676) erschienen sind. Das auf 300 Kopien limitierte Doppel-Vinyl wurden in ein hübsches Inside/Out Gatefold Sleeve verpackt und ist über den Online-Shop von HHV zu beziehen.

Wertung

Meine Wertung: 9/10 für Lord Folter – ROUGE Instrumentals. Wenn man sich nur das Line-Up der Produzenten anschaut, dann kann das Ding nur fett sein. Philanthrope, Flitz&Suppe, Made in M, Skunkjunk, Omaure, Tusken, Blunt One … Hamma! Und wenn man dann das Vinyl rotieren lässt, dann klingt das Ding auch noch total fett. Die grösstenteils düsteren und sehr atmosphärischen Lo-Fi Beats kommen auch ohne die Rap-Parts total gut zur Geltung.

Favoriten: Dritte Etage, Omega und Varia
