Passend zum derzeitigen Herbsteinbruch, der hier mitten im März stattfindet, habe ich mal wieder das Vinyl „C Y G N – BODY N SOUL“ aufgelegt. Die Platte ist über das niederländische Entspannungs-Label Chillhop Records (CR097) erschienen. Herstellung, Vertrieb und Versand hat wieder der japanischen Vinyl-Dienstleister QRATES übernommen. 300 Kopien sind seit dem im Umlauf, die jeweils mit einer Download-Card ausgestattet wurden. Das fesche Artwork hat der „Sheffield based Illustrator“ Jim Spendlove umgesetzt.

C Y G N, der Beatschmied aus dem französischen Lille, hat für seine Debütscheibe 12 Tracks produziert. Die relaxten Melodien – die er seiner Rhodes entlockt – und der sphärische Hintergrundgesang passen perfekt zu den geschmeidig wabernden Beats. Chilligkeit kennt keine Grenzen. Das perfekte Album, um auf der Kautsch von besserem Wetter zu träumen, oder von besseren Zeiten, oder whatever. Meine Wertung: 8/10. Favoriten: White Cadillac, Lazy Pacific und Nobody Can See Me. Erhältlich ist die Platte bei HHV Records oder direkt beim Label.

Chillhop Essentials – Fall 2018

Nach den Dust Collectors läuten auch die Chillhopper unwiderruflich den Herbst ein. Mit Chillhop Essentials – Fall 2018 stimmen uns die Niederländer ganz gediegen auf die dunkle Jahreszeit ein. Das Doppel-Vinyl wurde wieder über QRATES „abgewickelt“. 1.300 handnummerierte Doppel-Alben wurden unter die Instrumental begeisterte Menge gebracht. Da musste der Praktikant ganz schön schreiben. In den Online-Shops von VinDig und HHV sind noch ein paar Kopien vorrätig. Und neuerdings kann man auch direkt im Chillshop shoppen. Gratis-Tipp: Die 2LP könnte ich mir auch sehr gut als Weihnachtsgeschenk vorstellen.

Meine Wertung: 10/10 für Chillhop Essentials – Fall 2018. Mehr braucht man eigentlich nicht schreiben, ohne sich zu wiederholen. Denn es ist alles wie immer: Chillige Beats von entspannten Produzenten, A&R vom Feinsten, Höchstwertung, unbedingt mehr davon.

Favoriten: L’indécis x sad toï – Dog Days, j’san x nymano – autumn breeze und idealism – illusions.

Chillhop daydreams (Chillhop Records)

Zwischen Essentials und Raw Cuts schienen die Chillhopper noch etwas Platz zu haben. Den haben sie jetzt mit der Compilation Chillhop daydreams ordentlich ausgefüllt. Für die Erstellung und den Vertrieb des analogen Datenträgers war wieder der japanische Dienstleister QRATES verantwortlich. 500 handnummerierte Kopien wurden in Orange Colored Vinyl gepresst. Hier Im Vinyl-41-HQ ist das 240. Schmuckstück gelandet. Bei HHV und Vinyl Digital (Pre-order) sind noch ein paar Exemplare verfügbar. Haut rein!

Meine Wertung: 9/10 für Chillhop daydreams. Wenn Tempo der mittlerweile geläufige Gattungsname für Papiertaschentücher ist, dann könnte sich daydreams als Inbegriff für Entspanntheit etablieren. Was für ein lässiges Album. 18 total chillige Tracks mit relaxten Beats und jazzigen Samples hat die überaus fitte A&R Abteilung des niederländischen Labels für diese Compilation ausgewählt. Legt das Vinyl auf, schnappt euch einen Kaffee, macht es euch auf eurem Sitz- oder Liegemobiliar bequem und gebt euch euren Tagträumen hin. Prädikat: Chillhop vom Feinsten!

Favoriten: clap cotton – dutches, invention_ – dxy_drmng und less.people – you’ve got nothing (but time)

Mit The Breed – Smunchiiez hat der deutsche Beatschmied sein Debüt für das holländische Label Chillhop Records hingelegt. Die Produktion des Vinyl wurde wieder über den japanischen Vinyl-Dienstleister QRATES abgewickelt. 200 Exemplare wurden als 12” White color vinyl (33 rpm) gefertigt. Hier ist die 79/200 sicher gelandet. Vinyl Digital und HHV scheinen noch ein paar Kopien der limited Edition vorrätig zu haben …

Meine Wertung: 8/10 für The Breed – Smunchiiez. Zehn total entspannte Tracks hat der Beat Smith für dieses Projekt produziert. Bei einigen Songs hat man das Gefühl, dass gleich Roger Troutman ums Eck kommt. G-Funk, ick hör dir trapsen. Total chillige Beats, jazzige Samples und Westcoast-Synthie-Sounds bilden den sweeten Soundtrack für lässige Spätsommerabende.

Favoriten: Funk Flowers ft. B-Side, Chocolate Covered Dreams und Apple Pie & Honey

Wie im richtigen Leben so auch bei den Chillhoppern: auf den Frühling folgt der Sommer. Chillhop Essentials – Summer 2018 nennt sich das Doppel-Album für die zweite Jahreszeiten-Compilation 2018. Auch für diesen Sampler hat das holländische Label den japanischen Vinyl-Dienstleister QRATES in Anspruch genommen. 1.000 Kopien wurden angefertigt. Im Vinyl-41-HQ ist die 999(!) gelandet. Hamma! In den Onlineshops von HHV und Vinyl Digital könnt Ihr Euch noch ein paar Platten sichern.

Meine Wertung: 10/10 für Chillhop Essentials – Summer 2018. Nach dem ich Chillhop Essentials – Spring 2018 zur besten bisher erschienenen Seasonal Compilation erklärt habe, schleicht sich der aktuelle Sampler langsam ran und sichert sich den 2. Platz. 23 Instrumental Hip Hop Tracks der absolut chilligen Sorte haben es auf das von Philanthrope gemasterte Doppel-Vinyl geschafft. Unbekannte und bekannte Produzenten teilen sich wieder den begehrten analogen Speicherplatz. Ich wiederhole mich gern: A&R vom Feinsten. Grossartige und entspannte Beats von vorn bis hinten. Dafür gibt es erneut die volle Punktzahl.
