Am 07.02.2018 wurde wieder vermehrt an die Beatschmiede J Dilla und Nujabes gedacht, die an diesem Tag Geburtstag gehabt hätten. Dieses Datum ist auch meistens ein Anlass für diverse Tribut Tapes. So hat auch das Label Chillhop Records dieses Jahr ein äusserst gelungenes Homage Beattape am Start. Aso – Two / Seven nennt sich die EP, die bei Bandcamp für 4 Euro als Download und Stream erstanden werden kann.

Bei Instagram entdeckt, bei Soundcloud reingehört und bei Vinylism fündig geworden. So läuft das manchmal mit diesen äusserst knappen Limited Editions. INDUSTREALSOUND – Audible Kung-Fu nennt sich die gesuchte und erbeutete Platte, von der lediglich 250 Kopien gepresst wurden. Mit Blue/Black Marbled Vinyl und OBI Strip ist das Ding schon ein optisches Highlight, gleichauf mit den Kunstwerken von POSTPARTUM. Bei den üblichen verdächtigen Onlinedealern HHV und VinDig sind auch noch ein paar Exemplare zu ergattern. Gönnt euch die EP, lohnt sich, nicht nur optisch.

Meine Wertung: 9/10 für INDUSTREALSOUND – Audible Kung-Fu. Über den oder die Beatschmied(e) habe ich bis zu dieser EP nichts vernommen. Das ist seit dieser Platte anders. Das Beat Collective (gerade bei Facebook recherchiert) ist von 0 auf 100 in 33 rpm auf meinem Radar angekommen. Oldschoolige Beats und Samples verteilt auf 7 instrumentale Hip Hop Tracks. Da geht bestimmt noch mehr. Ich denke (und hoffe), dass man von INDUSTREALSOUND noch eine Menge hören wird.

UK hat mit The MJM Artists – Ruff Graft Revisited (Millennium Jazz Music) und Complex Channel Collective Tapes Vol.3 (Complex Channel Records) gleich zwei Compilations am Start. kick a dope verse! – jazzy village vol. 1 vertritt dagegen als Einzelkämpfer die russischen Beatschmiede. Mal schauen, ob das gut geht. Viel Spass beim reinhören!

Fazit Tapes #37
Habe ich schon erwähnt, dass ich diese Compilation Tapes voll mag? Nein? Ich mag die voll! Alle drei Kassetten sind wieder prall gefüllt mit coolen Produzenten, voll mit feinsten instrumentalen Hip Hop Tracks und haben so richtig überzeugt. Als ganz knappen Sieger küre ich den ältesten der drei Sampler. Das oberste Treppchen für Tapes #37 geht an die J Dilla Homage The MJM Artists – Ruff Graft Revisited. Ich freue mich schon riesig auf das Vinyl, dass über QRATES gecrowdfunded wurde. Aber auch kick a dope verse! – jazzy village vol. 1 und Complex Channel Collective Tapes Vol.3 sind absolut empfehlenswert.

Na das klingt doch spannend. La Ciudad Cooperative – dimes ep ist also eine Zeitreise in die guten alten Siebziger, die Epoche der Shafts, Kojaks, Rockfords und ihrer weiblichen Sidekicks. Man könnte die EP auch als Soundtrack meiner einstelligen Lebensjahre bezeichnen. Aber das wäre wahrscheinlich nicht so interessant. :-D Die dimes ep ist der Anfang einer Trilogie, die schon in diesem Jahr ihr Ende finden soll. Ich bin gespannt. Der erste Teil steht jetzt digital bei Bandcamp als „name your price“ Stream und Download zur Verfügung.

Heute mal wieder ein kleiner Ausflug in etwas elektronischere Gefilde. Ermöglicht hat mir diesen vinylen Exkurs der gute Jan, der mir seine LP Jan Hertz – Moj zur Verfügung gestellt hat. Da sage ich doch ganz brav danke: Danke! :-) Das Vinyl wurde Anfang Februar 2018 über das Label heiter bis wolkig veröffentlicht. 150 Kopien wurden gepresst und diese werden via Bandcamp zum Kauf angeboten.

Meine Wertung: 8/10 für Jan Hertz – Moj. Von Techno über Ambient bis zur chilligen Klavierballade, alles dabei. Schöne Mischung. Für Moj hat Jan Hertz zur Unterstützung eine Handvoll Musiker um sich gescharrt, die für die Produktion der Platte auf echten Instrumenten und mit lebendigen Stimmen unterwegs waren. Saxophone, Becken, Gitarre, Bass, Drums, Voice, Hamma! Label und Künstler sagten mir bis vor kurzem nicht wirklich etwas. Gut, dass mich der Wahlberliner zu diesem Vinyl „überredet“ hat. Von der ersten Rille auf Seite A bis zur letzten auf Seite B ein empfehlenswertes Album. Das macht Lust auf mehr.
