Die ganz wilde Mischung.
Über das Budapester Hip Hop Label Blunt Shelter Records, dass immer wieder für frische Beatschmiede und Beats verantwortlich ist, wurde das Album „Soul:Ctrl – Reaching Deeper“ (BLNT-010) auf die Plattenteller der Instrumental-Welt losgelassen. Kurz nach der digitalen Veröffentlichung im September 2019, wurde über eine Crowdfunding-Kampagne bei QRATES eine Pressung in schwarzes Gold gesichert. Das anvisierte Ziel von 100 Kopien wurde mit 112 finalen Exemplaren leicht übertroffen.
Das Vinyl-Debüt des in Hove, UK ansässigen Produzenten mit ungarischen Wurzeln umfasst insgesamt 12 Tracks. Die Beats schwanken leicht zwischen Electro-Lo-Fi und samplebasiertem Golden Era Hip Hop hin und her. Interessante Mischung, die das Album sehr abwechslungsreich erscheinen lässt. Die „Hubert Daviz – diezel ep“ ist im Dezember 2018 digital erschienen. Im April 2019 wurde dann über das Label-Duo Backstein Rulet / HHV Records (HHV797) das passende Vinyl veröffentlicht. 300 Kopien haben es auf schwarzes Polyvinylchlorid geschafft.
Der sieben Tracks starke Extended Player ist wieder ein extravagantes Klangexperiment des Kölner Beatschmieds. Wer glattgezogenen Instrumental Hip Hop erwartet, der sollte lieber nicht in das Vinyl investieren. Der „Rest“, der auch schroffe und unfertig wirkende Beats mag, der wird mit der „diezel ep“ bestens bedient. The Find beschreibt es perfekt: „dark, slow and syrupy“. Wie schon bei den vier 10-Zöllern von another backstein invazion und der Momentum LP, so musste ich auch dem aktuellen Vinyl erst mit mehreren Rotationen eine Chance geben. Liebe auf den zweiten Blick, oder so.

Das Debüt-Album „ewon12bit – one time for your mind“ vom finnischen Beatschmied ist im Februar 2019 über das Label Phatventures (PHATVENTURESLP03) erschienen. Gleichzeitig wurde über Diggers Factory eine Crowdfunding-Kapagne angestossen, die 300 Kopien in schwarzem Polyvinylchlorid finanzieren sollte. Das hat dann zum Glück auch wie geplant funktioniert. Die Platte wurde gepresst und vor kurzem ausgeliefert. Im Vinyl-41-HQ rotiert Nr. 154/300.
ewon12bit hat für seinen Instrumental Hip Hop Erstling 14 Kracher Tracks produziert. Oldschoolige Beats treffen auf Golden Era Vinyl-Samples, die ganz traditionell auf Magnetband recorded wurden. Das klingt nach Hip Hop von der Stange, was aber auf keinsten zutrifft. Dem Beat Smith aus Helsinki und seiner großartigen Musik merkt man an, das sie sich komplett dem Boom Bap verschrieben haben. Einstand nach Maß!
Meine Wertung 9/10. Favoriten: „skyline rising“, „rabbit hole“ und „elevation“. HHV Records, VinDig und decks.de haben noch ein paar Platten gelistet. Wie gesagt, noch … Viel Spass beim reinhören!

Nach diversen Veröffentlichungen auf Tape und USB-Stick ist mit „Smeyeul – Always Temporary“ das Vinyl-Debüt des Beatschmieds aus Louisville, Kentucky im Vinyl-41-HQ gelandet. Das 12” Clear yellow color vinyl wurde über QRATES (vor)finanziert, hergestellt und ausgeliefert. 100 Kopien haben es auf die Plattenteller der Welt geschafft. Das Mastering wurde im Hause Inner Ocean Records durchgezogen. Für das Artwork ist Electromilk verantwortlich.
Der Schlafzimmer-Produzent hat für „Always Temporary“ 14 Instrumental Tracks gebastelt. Die jazzigen Lo-Fi Beats sind voller halliger Klänge eines Rhodes-Klaviers und einfacher Melodien. Die Platte ist ganz okayisch, aber für mich eine Nummer zu Lo-Fi bzw. etwas zu behäbig. Ich dachte schon, dass ich den 45-RPM-Hinweis irgendwo überlesen hätte … Meine Wertung: 7/10. Favoriten: „short films“ und „memories ft. chief.“.

Everybody’s Talkin‘ About The Good Ol‘ Days! Was die Mitglieder des W-Tang Clan sampeln, kann nicht so schlecht sein. Also ab damit auf Vinyl. Alle vier Episoden von „Shaolin Soul“ beherbergen eine grandiose Auswahl mit feinstem Soul. Die im Jahr 1998 erstmalig erschienene Kult-Compilation (Episode 1) dreht hier im Vinyl-41-HQ als Reissue (Episode 1-4) vom französischen Label Because Music seine Runden. Alle acht Platten haben einen Premiumplatz in meinem Regal gefunden. Meine Wertung: 10/10. Favoriten: Alle(s)!
