Lex (de Kalhex) – Cairn (Akromégalie Records)

Lex (de Kalhex) – Cairn ist nach Satori das zweite Album des französischen Produzenten, dass im Vinyl 41 HQ gelandet ist. Erneut zeichnet sich das Label Akromégalie Records für den Release (AKR11) verantwortlich. 500 Kopien wurden in schwarzes Kunststoff gepresst. Das Cover wurde mit einem Steinhügel und einem OBI strip verziert. Erhältlich ist die LP bei Bandcamp und den üblich verdächtigen Online-Shops wie HHV oder VinDig.

Meine Wertung: 8/10 für Lex (de Kalhex) – Cairn. Das mittlerweile 4. Instrumental Hip Hop Album des französischen Beatschmieds beinhaltet eigentlich 11 Tracks. Aber „nur“ neun haben es auf das Vinyl geschafft. (A)Lex hat sich durch seine Reise durch Skandinavien inspirieren lassen und eine total entspannte Platte produziert. Sound und Cover passen perfekt zusammen. Alles wirkt wie aus einem Stein gemeisselt. Auch bei dieser Platte kann ich keinen Favoriten ausmachen, alle Titel passen irgendwie zusammen und lassen keine Pause aufkommen. Mal wieder ein perfekter Soundtrack für eine gelungene Tagträumerei.

Mal wieder was neues von Aviary Bridge Records: Drchamploo – Burning Blossom. Der französische Beatschmied gibt mit dieser EP sein superbes Debüt beim niederländischen Label. Die 6 Tracks bieten instrumentale Langsamkeit von seiner besten Seite. Noch chilliger wäre kaum auszuhalten. Die jazzige Lo-Fi EP kann man sich bei Bandcamp in digitaler Form als „name your price“ Download / Stream abholen.

»Drchamploo has been composing for the past five years, during which time he has released four EPs: “Contemplations”; “Urban Waves” and “Groovebox” (Vols. 1 & 2) as well as composing for film, TV and video games. KarmawiN – Noir (POSTPARTUM.)

Da hat das Taschengeldmonster POSTPARTUM. wieder zugeschlagen. KarmawiN – Noir nennt sich das aktuelle Schmuckstück vom Label aus Edelsfeld, dass bereits im Januar 2018 als (mittlerweile ausverkauftes) Tape über E1K erschienen ist. Auch Katalognummer PPT-LP-11 gibt es wieder in zwei Varianten. 250 Kopien als translucent orange/black marble Vinyl und 150 Kopien als black Vinyl wurden gepresst. Beide Modelle sind im Online-Shop von POSTPARTUM. verfügbar, noch.

Meine Wertung: 9/10 für KarmawiN – Noir. Wieder mal hat POSTPARTUM. ein gutes Näschen für Design und Sound bewiesen. Der Kölner Felix Plien ist für das hübsche Coverlayout verantwortlich und der aus Lyon stammende Beatschmied KarmawiN für die exzellenten Beats. 11 instrumentale Tracks hat der Franzose für das Album produziert. Oldschoolige Hip Hop Beats und verstaubte Samples machen die Platte, die von SterilOne gemastert wurden, zu einem klanglichen Erlebnis. Aber hat man eigentlich was anderes erwartet? Prädikat: deutlich besser als französischer Wein.

Kyo Itachi – Zatoichi (Blood Katana Edition)

Das Album Kyo Itachi – Zatoichi ist nach Hip Dozer Compilation vol.2 das zweite Vinyl, dass ich über den QRATES Konkurrenten Diggers Factory vorfinanziert habe. Hat gut funktioniert. Für das Label Konglomerat, bestehend aus Kamehameha House, Beat Zem All und Shinigamie Records wurden lediglich 150 Kopien (BZALP01) in rotes Vinyl gepresst. Die Blood Katana Edition wurde, wie auch bei QRATES üblich, über junorecords ausgeliefert.

Meine Wertung: 8/10 für Kyo Itachi – Zatoichi. Der französische Beatschmied erzählt mit seiner Platte die Geschichte des blinden Samurai Zatoichi. Es ist kein reines Instrumental Hip Hop Album geworden. Die eine Hälfte der 20 Tracks sind gerappte Ninja & Samurai Verse und die andere Hälfte sind (leider viel zu kurze) reine Kyo Beats. Ein bisschen Wu Tang, angereichert mit etwas El Michels Affair und vermischt mit asiatischen Samples, mal was anderes. Prädikat: Interessant ;-)

Ob digital oder als Vinyl, das kanadische Label Tour De Manège ist immer wieder gut für neue instrumentale Releases. So auch dieses mal mit Saligo – Lo-Files #1. Der französische Beatschmied hat es für dieses digitale Beat Tape sehr ruhig angehen lassen. Der Titel ist Programm, Lo-Fi(les) at its best. Die chilligen 10 Tracks kann man sich als „name your price“ Download / Stream bei Bandcamp abholen.
