Die Compilation aus der thüringischen Tapefabrik ist vollgepackt mit namhaften Beatschmieden aus aller Welt. 26 Tracks mit instrumentalem Hip Hop wurden für diese grandiose Kassette produziert. Drop Beats Not Bombs ist ein weiteres Highlight für meine Magnetbandsammlung. Das LabOhr hat lediglich 100 Kopien angefertigt. Nach Seeds, Roots & Fruits steht jetzt mit Emapea – Zoning Out Volume 1 das zweite Vinyl des polnischen Beat Smith in meinem Plattenregal. Für dieses Album hat das Label Cold Busted weder Kosten noch Mühen gescheut und schon vorab mit einer instrumentalen Postkarte für ein persönliches Highlight gesorgt. Zoning Out Volume 1 wurde am 16. Februar 2018 veröffentlicht. Vorab hat das kalifornische Plattenlabel 500 Kopien in schwarzes Kunststoff pressen und einmal um die Welt reisen lassen. Recorded in Poland –> Mastered in The Netherlands –> Pressed in Paris –> Printed in Taiwan –> Packaged in Los Angeles –> Played in Berlin-Friedenau. Ist schon ganz schön rumgekommen das Ding.

Meine Wertung: 9/10 für Emapea – Zoning Out Volume 1. Auch wenn man beim Genuss dieses Vinyl nicht nur chillen soll, sondern auch nachdenken, nutze ich es überwiegend für die erstere Option. Der polnische Beatschmied hat für das Album 20 Tracks produziert, die mich in Gänze überzeugt haben. Mal wieder eine Platte ohne (für mich hörbare) Schwächen, komplett zum Durchhören. Boom-Bap vom Feinsten.
Favoriten: Invasion, Daydreaming und Chillin‘ Hard
Mt. Fuji Tapes, dass „Record Label specializing in Lo-Fi beat tapes“ aus New Orleans, Louisiana aka Neo-Tokio, hat mal wieder einen coolen Sampler veröffentlicht. Mt. Fuji Compilation Vol. 3 (MF017) nennt sich die Kassette, die am 28. Januar 2018 released wurde und vor kurzem im heimischen Briefkasten landete. Neben bekannten Namen, wie z. B. ENTRO// oder graves, gab es wieder einige für mich unbekannte Produzenten zu entdecken.
Another Beauty from Inner Ocean Records: Dominic Pierce – Hoop Loops (INNER072). Vom Slurpee Pink Vinyl, dass wirklich total hübsch aussieht, hat das kanadische Label lediglich 200 Kopien pressen lassen. Bei Bandcamp und auf der Seite von Inner Ocean kann man dieses Schmuckstück noch erstehen. Da die Platte nicht nur gut aussieht, sondern auch gut klingt, gibt es vor der eigentlichen Wertung schon mal eine ganz klare Kaufempfehlung.

Meine Wertung: 8/10 für Dominic Pierce – Hoop Loops. Schickes Cover, Slurpee Pink Vinyl und 21 instrumentale Hip Hop Tracks, eine wirklich gelungene Kombination. Das Album besticht mit wummernden Beats und R&B Samples, die einen in die Achtziger und frühen Neunziger zurückreisen lassen. Die smoothe Platte ist quasi die pinkfarbene Pille gegen schlechte Stimmung.

Für Tapes #37 steht ein Länderkampf zwischen Großbritannien und Russland ins Haus. UK hat mit The MJM Artists – Ruff Graft Revisited (Millennium Jazz Music) und Complex Channel Collective Tapes Vol.3 (Complex Channel Records) gleich zwei Compilations am Start. kick a dope verse! – jazzy village vol. 1 vertritt dagegen als Einzelkämpfer die russischen Beatschmiede. Mal schauen, ob das gut geht. Viel Spass beim reinhören!

Fazit Tapes #37
Habe ich schon erwähnt, dass ich diese Compilation Tapes voll mag? Nein? Ich mag die voll! Alle drei Kassetten sind wieder prall gefüllt mit coolen Produzenten, voll mit feinsten instrumentalen Hip Hop Tracks und haben so richtig überzeugt. Als ganz knappen Sieger küre ich den ältesten der drei Sampler. Das oberste Treppchen für Tapes #37 geht an die J Dilla Homage The MJM Artists – Ruff Graft Revisited. Ich freue mich schon riesig auf das Vinyl, dass über QRATES gecrowdfunded wurde. Aber auch kick a dope verse! – jazzy village vol. 1 und Complex Channel Collective Tapes Vol.3 sind absolut empfehlenswert.
