»After four years of hard work from putting out free downloadable tribute albums every two weeks in season one, to continuing with monthly tributes and building the collective in season two and three, to completing the 10 part Locations cassette tape series, as well as releasing anniversary albums, LP specials, CD’s and a ‚best of‘ double 12″. The Jazz Jousters have now managed to come up with the first official vinyl album.

Meine Wertung: 9/10 für The Jazz Jousters – Endurance. Die Platte habe ich erst relativ spät entdeckt, aber dafür um so tiefer in mein Instrumental Herz geschlossen. Gadget, der Boss von Millennium Jazz Music, hat für diese Compilation sich und 9 weitere Beatbastler rekrutiert, um 10 grossartige und jazzige Tracks zu produzieren. Hat funktioniert! Boom Bap, Hip Hop und Chilled Beats mit einer deftigen Priese gesampeltem Jazz, ein Rezept, dass total lecker anzuhören ist.

Favoriten: Slone – Part of My Life, SmokedBeat – Secret Tears und Oldy Clap Recordz – Dust on the Road

Habt ihr damals™ auch Eurem/Eurer Liebsten ein Mixtape mit den jeweiligen Lieblingssongs zusammengestellt? Hach, das waren noch Zeiten. So ähnlich ist das jetzt auch ein russischer Beatschmied angegangen. Mit dem Unterschied, dass er die Tracks für seine Flamme gleich selbst produziert hat. Maple Syrup – Feels (From M​.​S. to N​.​M​.​) EP nennt sich eben jenes Beat Tape. Schön, dass uns der gute Maple Syrup und das Label Millennium Jazz Music (MJM128) an der schmusigen EP teilhaben lassen, wenn auch „nur“ in digitaler Form. Ein Hoch auf die Liebe!

ist nach The Flip & Dip Sessions schon das zweite Vinyl vom ungarischen Beatschmied, dass hier bei Vinyl 41 im Umlauf ist. Gleichzeitig ist es auch die zweite Platte von Blunt Shelter Records (BLNT-002). Das Label werde ich mal im Auge behalten. Dippin in the Lab wurde wieder über QRATES vorfinanziert. Lediglich 100 Kopien wurden gepresst. Bei HHV und Vinyl Digital sind noch ein paar Exemplare am Lager.

Wertung

Meine Wertung: 8/10 für Herring Franky – Dippin in the Lab. Auch das zweite Vinyl des ungarischen Produzenten macht richtig Spass. Aber erst nachdem man herausgefunden hat, dass die Platte mit 45 rpm läuft. Vorher klang das Vinyl überhaupt nicht gut. Ein kleiner Hinweis auf dem Cover wäre schon schön gewesen. Die 20 – teilweise sehr kurzen – Tracks bieten chilligen Instrumental Hip Hop, der durch analoge Samples aus den 90er Jahren sehr gut in Szene gesetzt wird. Perfekter Soundtrack für die nachmittägliche Relaxung auf der heimischen Kautsch.

Favoriten: Changin View, Dip 4 Kazi & Madlib und Sv Esque

So wie einst jazzy village vol. 1, war auch die nächste Compilation vom russische Label kick a dope verse wieder fast fünf Wochen nach Berlin-Friedenau unterwegs. Da wurde wohl wieder der Postesel durch halb Europa getrieben!? Aber das Warten auf die Kassette kick a dope verse – the abstract era hat sich extremst gelohnt. 21 Tracks mit oldschooligem Boom Bap hat das Hip-Hop Label aus dem Oblast Amur auf das doppelseitige Magnetband gebannt. Grossartiges Tape!

Nach Nr. 19 IAMPAUL – EXPEDITion Vol. 19: Nineteen (VinDig321) folgt konsequenterweise Nr. 20 der VinDigSchen Regalreihe: I.L.L. Will – EXPEDITion Vol. 20: One Will (VinDig320). Vom Vinyl des Hamburger Produzentenurgesteins, der schon für Blumentopf, Nico Suave, Dendemann, Eins Zwo, Fettes Brot oder Eloquent Beats gebastelt hat, wurden die üblichen 300 Kopien gepresst. Das überaus geniale Coverdesign stammt von Uwe Wagner. Im Onlineshop von Vinyl Digital kann man sich die von Hand nummerierten Schmuckstücke gegen einen Anschaffungswiderstand von z.Z. 16,95 Euro (zzgl. Versand) zulegen.

Wertung

Meine Wertung: 9/10 für I.L.L. Will – EXPEDITion Vol. 20: One Will. Die ersten beiden Tracks The jazz und Swing thing geben gleich mal ganz locker die musikalische Richtung der Platte vor. Der Hamburger Beatschmied I.L.L. Will hat für EXPEDITion Vol. 20 ganz tief in sein Plattenregal gegriffen und 10 jazzige Stücke produziert, die mir durchweg sehr gut gefallen. Instrumental Hip Hop Beats treffen Samples von Jazz und Swing Klassikern. Das Vinyl One Will ist nach einigen Umrundungen sofort zu einem meiner Highlights der EXPEDITion Serie durchgestartet.

Favoriten: Blue sky?, Just beautiful und Strollin‘
