Über das kalifornische Label United Common Records (Los Angeles, USA) ist im Juli 2018 das digitale Album Goosetaf – Akemi erschienen. Das passende Vinyl wurde zwischen Juli und August 2018 über QRATES vorfinanziert. 100 Kopien waren anvisiert, 130 sind es dann im Endeffekt geworden. Mein Exemplar hat dann im November 2018 den Weg von Japan über England ins Vinyl-41-HQ gefunden. Wenn ich bei euch das Interesse für eine dieser entspannten und limitierten Platten wecken konnte, die Mädels und Jungs von HHV Records haben noch ein paar Stück gelistet. „Kommt vor Weihnachten an.“ Perfekt!

»Akemi started off as the idea to create a small and special piece of art that could encompass many different sounds and feelings. As the project progressed, the size of it grew. Three collaborations became five which ultimately grew to the outstanding number of 17. Akemi shows that artists with many different signature sounds can come together and create a cohesive project. Along with the music, the art itself was a large stand alone project. We wanted to create a surreal landscape showcasing an island far off in the distance. It was an honor to curate this project and work with so many outstanding artists despite the countless hours of work and persistence. I believe that there is something for every listener on this project.«

Wertung

Meine Wertung: 8/10 für Goosetaf – Akemi. Das Vinyl ist eigentlich mehr Compilation als „eigenes Werk“. 17 von 22 Tracks hat Goosetaf mit anderen Beatschmieden gebastelt. Der Produzent aus Seattle ist damit bei diesem Projekt wohl eher A&R-Manager als Beatsmith. Wie auch immer, herausgekommen ist dabei ein solides Instrumental Hip Hop Album. Chillige Beats mit jazzigen Samples, die wegen der hohen Dichte an verschiedenen Lo-Fi-Protagonisten nie langweilig werden und sehr abwechslungsreich klingen. BTW: Das überaus hübsche Artwork stammt von Analise Lejeune. Auch das sollte nicht unerwähnt bleiben.
