Aus dem bÄyz Umfeld hat mich der Extended Player „Kometenschmidt – Introduction EP“ erreicht. Der Leipziger Beatschmied hat für seinen digitalen Erstling 8 Tracks gebastelt. Seine sehr triphoppigen Beats treffen auf stimmliche Unterstützung aus Hip Hop und Soul. Besonders gut gefallen mir die Stücke „Too much feat. BrainDED & Neverending“ und „Once again feat. Kamal Supreme, TheG1t & EbethB“ mit den sehr genialen Stimmen in der Hook.
Dafür, dass der Kometenschmidt im „Hip Hop eigentlich nicht zu Hause“ ist, ist die EP voll okayisch geworden. Solides Debüt. Ihr könnt euch das digitale Album direkt bei Bandcamp als „name your price“ Download / Stream zulegen.

Gute 11 Jahre nach der erstmaligen Veröffentlichung (digital) schafft es das Beat-Tape-Debüt des Berliner Produzenten endlich auf schwarzes Polyvinylchlorid: „Torky Tork – Black Album“. Das Doppel-Vinyl ist über das Label HHV Records (HHV753) erschienen und ist auf 500 Kopien limitiert. „Kein Lofi-Gedüdel welches in deinem favorite KoreanBBQSpot im Hintergrund läuft, sondern eher ein Hörspiel auf Crack für den aufmerksamen Zuhörer […]“ Recht hat er.
Das Album bietet insgesamt 23 Instrumental Tracks mit schrägen Beats und noch schrägeren Samples. Wie schon bei seinem ersten Solo-Album PR110 (TorkMUsik / TNT 001), so hat er auch vorher für „Black“ seine Vorliebe für „antike“ und abgefahrene Soundschnipsel aus obskuren Quellen ausgelebt. Man muss sich echt Zeit nehmen, um das Album zu entdecken. Dann macht es richtig Spass. Wahnsinn in schwarz. Meine Wertung: 8/10. Favoriten: Hero, 1984 und Die Lüge.

Mit „Emapea – Zoning Out Volume 2“ steht nach „Seeds, Roots & Fruits“ und Zoning Out Volume 1 bereits das dritte Album des polnischen Beatschmieds im heimischen Plattenregal. Auch dieses Vinyl ist wieder über das in Los Angeles, California, USA ansässige Label Cold Busted (BUSTEDINCHES93) erschienen. Die Platte ist auf relativ großzügige 500 Kopien limitiert. Für die Tapeheads unter uns ist auch eine auf 100 Exemplare limitierte Kassettenversion verfügbar. Eine Ankündigung via klingender Postkarte gab es dieses mal leider nicht.
Emapea hat für den zweiten Teil von „Zoning Out“ 18 satte Instrumental Hip Hop Tracks produziert. Wie schon beim Vorgänger überzeugen die Beats zwischen Lo-Fi und Boom Bap sowie die perfekt passenden Samples alter Jazz- und Soul-Platten auf ganzer Linie. Das Album ist keine wirkliche Steigerung zu Volume 1, aber voll auf dem gleichen, großartigen Niveau. Deshalb liegt meine Wertung erneut bei sehr guten 9/10. Favoriten: Special Update, Blue Almonds und Feel Over Math.

The Bare Dusty Beat Tape 2 (Millennium Jazz Music)
Fast zwei Jahre nach dem ersten Teil beglücken uns Bare Beats und Dusty Ohms endlich mit Volume 2 vom „The Bare Dusty Beat Tape“. Der kompakte und analoge Datenträger ist wieder über das Londoner Label Millennium Jazz Music (MJM144) erschienen und ist auf schmale 50 Kopien limitiert. Die beiden Beatschmiede haben sich wieder brüderlich die Seiten geteilt. Auf Seite A sind 12 Tracks von Bare Beats zu bewundern und die B-Seite wurde von Dusty Ohms mit 15 Instrumentals extrem gut versorgt.
Das Tape ist prall gefüllt mit oldschoolige Beats zwischen Boom Bap und Lo-Fi, die mit famosen Samples aus Jazz und Soul garniert wurden. Grandioses Tape, großartige Produzenten, exzellentes Label, beide Daumen hoch. Die Kassette und das digitale Album könnt ihr euch auf der Bandcamp-Seite von MJM zulegen. Ta-ku – 25 Nights for Nujabes (Jakarta Records / 823)
Nach den 50 Days For Dilla hat der australische Beatschmied im Jahr 2013 das Album „Ta-ku – 25 Nights for Nujabes“ produziert. Über das Label Jakarta Records (JAKARTA145 / Vertrieb: Groove Attack) sind die 25 Nächte – in Erinnerung an Nujabes aka Seba Jun – jetzt als Doppel-Vinyl erschienen. Zur Feier des Tages hat Ta-ku noch die „26th and 27th night (feat. Matt McWaters)“ als Bonus draufgepackt.
Die durchaus funkigen Instrumental Hip Hop Beats mit jazzigen und souligen Samples sind nicht nur eine Reminiszenz an die – leider viel zu früh verstorbene – japanische Produzenten Ikone Nujabes, sie sind dazu noch richtig exzellent. Insgesamt 27 Tracks, mit denen Ta-ku spätestens jetzt in der Beat-Maker-Elite angekommen sein sollte. Meine Wertung: 9/10. Favoriten: Night 2, Night 10, Night 14 und Night 22
