Cold-Busted. Es ist zu einfach, Cold Busted nur als Plattenlabel zu bezeichnen. Klar, diese Anbieter von Trip-Hop, instrumentalem Hip-Hop, Downtempo und Funky-Sounds setzen immer wieder moderne Klassiker frei. Das von Derrick Daisey, ehemals DJ Vitamin D, gegründete Label mit Sitz in Los Angeles, hat jedoch ein Lifestyle-Musikerlebnis geschaffen, das sich um Daiseys unverdünnte Palette und seine legendären Vintage-Vibing-Kunstwerke dreht, und eine blühende Gemeinschaft innovativer Musiker, die fieberhaft zusammenarbeiten und zusammenarbeiten.

Habt ihr schon mal was von Geliks gehört? Nee? Ich auch nicht! Trotz (oder gerade wegen) dieser Unkenntnis ist das Album Geliks – Indeed über das Label Cold Busted erschienen. Schmale 100 Kopien wurden bei Mobineko angefertigt. Mit der Handnummerierung hat es dieses mal überhaupt nicht funktioniert. Das Presswerk hat komplett geschludert. /100 Wenn euch jemand ein handnummeriertes Exemplar andrehen will, dann Hände weg, weil Fake! Trotzdem sollte man sich das Vinyl zulegen, weil gut. Im Shop von Cold Busted könnt ihr noch ein paar Kopien abgreifen.

Meine Wertung: 10/10 für Geliks – Indeed. Da mir Geliks bis jetzt total unbekannt war bzw. ist, kann ich auch leider nichts über seine persönliche oder musikalische Herkunft berichten. Wegen des Voice-Schnipsels vom 2. Track tippe ich mal auf einen deutschen bzw. deutschsprachigen Beatschmied. Wie auch immer, das Vinyl ist richtig gut. Instrumentals von Hip Hop über Trip Hop bis Reggae gepaart mit jazzigen Samples, abwechslungsreiche und grossartige Mischung. Für mich ist Indeed das Überraschungs-Album des Jahres 2018.

Favoriten: Paper Plane, Ultimate Ocean und Salbei

Meine Wertung: 9/10 für Shinji – In Colour. Instrumental Hip Hop mit Samples aus Soul, Funk, Jazz und dann noch dieser crazy Schnipsel von Simon & Garfunkel – El Condor Pasa bei Pioneer … stilistisch eher schwer festzulegen. Finde ich aber voll okayish bis grossartig. Denn genau das macht das Album so abwechslungsreich und erinnert zudem schwer an 70er TV-Serien wie Love Boat und Shaft. 12 Tracks hat der australische Beatschmied für dieses Potpourri der guten Laune produziert. Immer wieder schön zu erleben, wie aus diesen staubigen Samples frische Beats entstehen. Prädikat: Hamma!

Nach Kid Abstrakt & The Deli – Daydreaming (Dezi-Belle) taucht der Beatschmied aus Austin, Texas, USA jetzt mit einem eigenen Album im Vinyl-41-HQ auf. Die Platte nennt sich The Deli – Jazz Cat und ist über das kalifornische Label Cold Busted (BUSTEDINCHES77) erschienen. Lediglich 250 Kopien wurden in schwarzes Gold gepresst. Ihr könnt Euch das Vinyl direkt auf der Bandcamp-Seite von Cold Busted zulegen. Bei den bekannten Online-Sellern HHV (Pre-order) und VinDig werdet ihr natürlich auch (noch!) fündig.

Meine Wertung: 9/10 für The Deli – Jazz Cat. Wie der Titel der Platte schon verrät, hat der texanische Beat Smith The Deli ein sehr jazziges Album gebastelt. Er hat für das Vinyl 15 Instrumental Hip Hop Tracks produziert, die für absolute Old-School-Vibes sorgen. Jazzy Beats und knisternde Samples gepaart mit sanften Pianoklängen erzeugen eine chillige Atmosphäre vom feinsten. Man wähnt sich sofort in einem rauchigen Jazzschuppen und hat eine gute Zeit. So muss das!

Die von Cold Busted im Jahr 2014 gestartete Compilation-Serie IWYMI („It’s What You Make It“) hat es erstmals auf einen vinylen Datenträger geschafft. Auf dem 7-Zöller IWYMI INTNl: Japan haben vier Produzenten aus dem „Land der aufgehenden Sonne“ Platz gefunden. Die von Es-K und Vitamin D ausgewählten Beatschmiede Pigeondust, Axion117, Bugseed und Tajima Hal durften jeweils einen Instrumental Hip Hop Track einspielen. Ganz starke und auf 250 Stück limitierte Vinyl-Premiere, die die IWYMI INTNl Serie hier hingelegt hat. Im Cold Busted Shop könnt Ihr Euch eine dieser kleinen Platten zulegen. Momentan sind noch 20 verfügbar … noch. Haut rein! Ich bin schon gespannt, wo die nächste instrumentale Reise hingeht.

Nach Seeds, Roots & Fruits steht jetzt mit Emapea – Zoning Out Volume 1 das zweite Vinyl des polnischen Beat Smith in meinem Plattenregal. Für dieses Album hat das Label Cold Busted weder Kosten noch Mühen gescheut und schon vorab mit einer instrumentalen Postkarte für ein persönliches Highlight gesorgt. Zoning Out Volume 1 wurde am 16. Februar 2018 veröffentlicht. Vorab hat das kalifornische Plattenlabel 500 Kopien in schwarzes Kunststoff pressen und einmal um die Welt reisen lassen. Recorded in Poland –> Mastered in The Netherlands –> Pressed in Paris –> Printed in Taiwan –> Packaged in Los Angeles –> Played in Berlin-Friedenau. Ist schon ganz schön rumgekommen das Ding.

Meine Wertung: 9/10 für Emapea – Zoning Out Volume 1. Auch wenn man beim Genuss dieses Vinyl nicht nur chillen soll, sondern auch nachdenken, nutze ich es überwiegend für die erstere Option. Der polnische Beatschmied hat für das Album 20 Tracks produziert, die mich in Gänze überzeugt haben. Mal wieder eine Platte ohne (für mich hörbare) Schwächen, komplett zum Durchhören. Boom-Bap vom Feinsten.

Favoriten: Invasion, Daydreaming und Chillin‘ Hard
