Mit einem Label aus Schweden hatten wir hier schon zu tun. Aber Finnland? Hmmm. Kupla – Taiga Native ist also nicht nur das Debüt bei Chillhop Records, sondern gleichzeitig auch unser finnisches Debüt. Kupla, der Beatschmied aus Helsinki, hat schon einige Tracks bei Bandcamp veröffentlicht. Mit dem sehr pianolastigen und chilligen Album Taiga Native und Dank der Chillhopper wird er jetzt einem breiteren Publikum vorgestellt. Gut so!

Passend zu den vielleicht letzten warmen Tagen im Jahr 2017 kam endlich die Platte „Chillhop Essentials – Summer 2017“ im lokalen Posteingang an. Auch dieses Doppel-Vinyl von Chillhop Records wurde wieder über Qrates crowdgefunded. Stolze 730 Kopien sind im Umlauf. Leider wurde dieses mal auf eine Nummerierung verzichtet. Das gibt Abzüge in der B-Note!

Wertung für Chillhop Essentials – Summer 2017
Meine Wertung: 8/10 für „Chillhop Essentials – Summer 2017“. 23 chillige Tracks mir bekannter (z.B. Birocratic, mtbrd, Philanthrope, Brock Berrigan und Flamingosis) und unbekannter Produzenten, wieder mal eine klangliche Entdeckungsreise auf Instrumental Island. Erneut ein sehr schöner Sampler aus dem Hause Chillhop Records, der auch Vorfreude auf die nächste Platte weckt. Aber der Herbst wird wohl erst im Winter erscheinen … Favoriten: mtbrd – Damn Fine Coffee, Poldoore – Vista, iamalex – If Only For A Day und The Cancel – Can’t You See.

Tesk – Spotless Minds (VinDig270). Da ist er, der erste Long Player vom Darmstädter Produzenten, der mir schon bei Chillhop Raw Cuts 2 (Datswing) positiv aufgefallen ist. Erschienen ist das Vinyl in Kooperation von Chillhop Music und Vinyl Digital. Es wurden lediglich 300 Kopien gepresst. Also jetzt sofort zu VinDig und die Platte bestellen. Lohnt sich mal wieder.

Meine Wertung: 8/10 für „Tesk – Spotless Minds“. Die Platte kommt sehr jazzig und super chillig daher. Auch nach mehrmaligem Durchhören kann ich keinen Favoriten ausmachen, spotless Beats, alle 14 Tracks wissen zu gefallen. Das Vinyl-Debut vom deutschen Beatschmied ist ein sehr ruhiges Album geworden, perfekt für die entspannte nachmittägliche Rumliegung.
