Die ganz wilde Mischung.
Nach Funkonami – Into The Deep Ocean steht mit Klim Beats – Natural das nächste Vinyl (TVI013) vom Label Village Live in meinem Regal. Ich habe mir die Platte in Cherry Red Färbung gegönnt, von der 125 Kopien gepresst wurden. 225 weitere Kopien wurden in schlichtes schwarz verewigt. Kleiner Wermutstropfen: bei meinem Long Player gibt es gleich beim ersten Track einen spürbaren Hickup, aber der Rest ist dann wenigstens voll in Ordnung.

Meine Wertung: 8/10 für Klim Beats – Natural. Die Platte ist meine erste vinyle Begegnung mit dem Beatschmied aus der Ukraine. Vorher hat es „lediglich“ zum Tape Summertime gereicht. Natural bietet 14 Tracks mit solidem instrumentalem Hip Hop. Klim Beats typisch gibt es soulig jazzige Samples und klassischen Boom Bap zu hören. Man bekommt, was man erwartet und das ist gut (so).
Favoriten: Mysterious Place, Don’t Stop und Tram Depot
POSTPARTUM., das Label für den gehobenen instrumentalen Audiogenuss, legt auch im Jahr 2018 wieder ordentlich los. Mit LoopLanguage Volume One ist ein Vinyl in meinem Plattenregal erschienen, dass nicht nur optisch ein (weiteres) Highlight der Edelsfelder Plattenschmiede darstellt. 400 Kopien vom äusserst hübschen Orange/Yellow gemarbleten Schmuckstück (PPT-LP-08) wurden gepresst. Ein paar Einheiten sind bei VinDig noch verfügbar. Zuschlagen!

Meine Wertung: 10/10 für LoopLanguage Volume One. Was soll ich sagen? Ausgepackt, aufgelegt, durchgehört, verliebt! Die Platte vereint nicht nur die verschiedensten Produzenten, sie überrascht auch mit einer Vielzahl an Stilrichtungen und Stilmitteln. Boom Bap, chilliger Lo-Fi, jazzige Beats, orthodoxe Samples … das Vinyl ist voller musikalischer Happenings. Absolute Empfehlung!

Meine Wertung: 9/10 für Step – Footprint. Ein Album, dass von Figub Brazlevic abgemischt und gemastert wurde, kann eigentlich nur gut sein. Aber damit allein wäre Step unrecht getan. Die mit 12 Tracks gut gefüllte Platte ist sehr abwechslungsreich, nie langweilig und damit komplett durchhörbar. Der Heidelberger DJ hat mit dieser LP gezeigt, dass er auch zu den grossen Produzenten im Genre Instrumental Hip Hop zählt. Ganz starkes Vinyl, dass im Nachhinein gesehen einen Platz in meiner persönlichen Top 10 aus 2017 verdient hätte.
Tales of Another Direction Vol. 1 & 2 (Melting Records)
Als ich vor kurzem Tales of Another Direction Vol. 2 das erste mal in den Händen hielt, ist mir aufgefallen, dass ich zum ersten Teil nicht ein Wort in dieses Internetz geschrieben habe. Das hole ich dann hiermit auch gleich mal nach. Von beiden Platten (MR003; MR007) hat das griechische Label Melting Records je 500 Kopien pressen lassen. Vom ersten Teil sind noch ca. 30 Exemplare auf Bandcamp verfügbar, von Vol. 2 dürfte es noch ausreichend geben. Holt Euch beide, es lohnt sich.

Meine Wertung: 9/10 für Tales of Another Direction Vol. 1 & 2. Beide Sampler bestechen mit jazzigen Samples und einer coolen Mischung aus Trip Hop und Instrumental Hip Hop. Auch hier kommt wieder zum tragen, was ich an diesen Compilations besonders mag: Various Artists. Viele, zum Teil mir unbekannte, Produzenten haben die beiden Platten mit knisternder Musik gefüllt. Von Vol. 1 kannte ich lediglich SomehowArt, bei Vol. 2 ist El Jazzy Chavo meine bekannte Grösse. Will heissen, es gab wieder eine Menge Neues für mich zu entdecken. So muss das und so macht das richtig Spass!

Kanada ist hier bei Vinyl 41 – bis auf ein paar Tapes – noch nicht so gross vertreten. Das ändert sich jetzt mit dem Vinyl GrandHuit & Atamone – Venture, dass in einer Auflage von 300 Kopien über das Label Reality Check erschienen ist. Bei Bandcamp, HHV und Vinyl Digital ist das gute Stück noch zu haben.

Meine Wertung: 8/10 für GrandHuit & Atamone – Venture. Die beiden Beatschmiede, die in Reunion Island und Montreal beheimatet sind, haben mit dieser Platte ein grossartiges Debüt hingelegt. Mit DJ FIP an ihrer Seite haben sie 10 Tracks produziert, die durchweg Spass machen. Wie schon beim designierten Vorgänger GoomarThe Astral Factor ist das Album Venture prall gefüllt mit feinstem instrumentalem Hip und Trip Hop. Genau so, wie es der Schreiber dieser Zeilen mag.
