Nach den beiden Kassetten Old Growth (INNER033) und Luv Songs (INNER053) darf es jetzt auch mal Vinyl sein: Arbour – Sights & Sounds (INNER075). Da man ja nicht kleckern sondern klotzen soll, ist die Platte im Clear-Vinyl-Look auch gleich mal ein optisches Highlight geworden. Das kanadische Label Inner Ocean Records hat von Sights & Sounds 200 Kopien pressen lassen. Bei Bandcamp kann man sich diese Schönheit aus transparentem Kunststoff zulegen. (Eine hand voll Kassetten sind auch noch verfügbar.)

Meine Wertung: 9/10 für Arbour – Sights & Sounds. Der Beat Smith aus Bellingham, Washington, USA hat für das hübsche Vinyl 17 + 1 Tracks produziert, die schwungvoll melancholisch daherkommen. Ein Wechselbad der musikalischen Gefühle, die beattechnische Achterbahn, Himmel und Hölle der Samples, das Yin und Yang des Instrumental Hip Hop … Hin und wieder mag ich genau das. Deshalb gefiel mir das Album von Anfang an, also direkt nach der ersten digitalen Anhörung im Februar diesen Jahres. Bestimmt wieder ein Album, dass total polarisiert. Ich mag es, so richtig.

Mujo情 – Reincarnation (Vinyl Digital)

Als ich den Beitrag zum digitalen Beat Tape Mujo情 – Clouds geschrieben habe, da ist mir aufgefallen, dass ich noch das Vinyl Mujo情 – Reincarnation auf dem Todo-Stapel zu liegen habe. Jetzt hatte, denn here we go. Das Album Reincarnation erschien über Vinyl Digital (VinDig298) und ist auf 300 Kopien limitiert. Das sehr hübsche Artwork des Covers stammt vom Künstler selbst.

Meine Wertung: 8/10 für Mujo情 – Reincarnation. 28 relativ kurze Tracks hat der ungarische Beatschmied für das Album produziert. Das Vinyl lädt durch seine atmosphärischen Beats, funkigen Grooves und jazzigen Samples zur entspannten Haltung auf der Kautsch ein. Tatkräftige Unterstützung fand Mujo情 dabei von den Beat-Kollegen Monma, Mr. Brown, Smuv und Plusma. Eine sehr chillige Platte, die bei Instrumental Hip Hop Fans einen Platz im Regal finden sollte.

Psalm//trees (Sky Blue Turquoise Vinyl / VinDig)

Psalm//trees, der aus dem Umfeld des YoGoCop MC Benaddict zu stammen scheint, hat über Vinyl Digital eine self-titled Platte veröffentlicht. Für das sehr hübsche und auf 100 Kopien limitierte Sky Blue Turquoise Vinyl hat der Beatschmied 16 Instumental Hip Hop Tracks produziert. Diese Version ist leider schon ausverkauft. Im Online Shop von Vinyl Digital kann man sich aber noch ein Exemplar in Black Vinyl (limitiert auf 200 Kopien) sichern. Klingt bestimmt genauso gut.

Meine Wertung: 8/10 für Psalm//trees. Über den Beat Smith kann ich nicht viel sagen. Man findet kaum etwas über ihn in diesem Internetz. Aber die Mukke ist richtig gut. 16 chillige Instrumentals wurden in das Sky Blue Turquoise Vinyl gepresst. Nicht nur die Farbe gibt einem schon mal ein gutes Gefühl, auch die ruhigen Beats und jazzy Samples tragen zu einem positiven Wohlbefinden bei und bringen eine gute Zeit. Easy Listening pur. Das Album verstärkt meine Vorfreude auf die Platte Autumn Turned Winter, die ich bei QARTES erstanden habe.

Fast zwei Jahre alt und seit dem kein bisschen schlechter geworden: The Jazz Jousters – Endurance. Das 100. Release des Londoner Labels Millennium Jazz Music (MJM100) ist auf 300 Kopien limitiert und bei einigen der gängigen Online-Vinyl-Dealern noch zu haben. Zugreifen. Lohnt sich.

Meine Wertung: 9/10 für The Jazz Jousters – Endurance. Die Platte habe ich erst relativ spät entdeckt, aber dafür um so tiefer in mein Instrumental Herz geschlossen. Gadget, der Boss von Millennium Jazz Music, hat für diese Compilation sich und 9 weitere Beatbastler rekrutiert, um 10 grossartige und jazzige Tracks zu produzieren. Hat funktioniert! Boom Bap, Hip Hop und Chilled Beats mit einer deftigen Priese gesampeltem Jazz, ein Rezept, dass total lecker anzuhören ist.

Herring Franky – Dippin in the Lab (Blunt Shelter Records)

Herring Franky – Dippin in the Lab ist nach The Flip & Dip Sessions schon das zweite Vinyl vom ungarischen Beatschmied, dass hier bei Vinyl 41 im Umlauf ist. Gleichzeitig ist es auch die zweite Platte von Blunt Shelter Records (BLNT-002). Das Label werde ich mal im Auge behalten. Dippin in the Lab wurde wieder über QRATES vorfinanziert. Lediglich 100 Kopien wurden gepresst. Bei HHV und Vinyl Digital sind noch ein paar Exemplare am Lager.

Meine Wertung: 8/10 für Herring Franky – Dippin in the Lab. Auch das zweite Vinyl des ungarischen Produzenten macht richtig Spass. Aber erst nachdem man herausgefunden hat, dass die Platte mit 45 rpm läuft. Vorher klang das Vinyl überhaupt nicht gut. Ein kleiner Hinweis auf dem Cover wäre schon schön gewesen. Die 20 – teilweise sehr kurzen – Tracks bieten chilligen Instrumental Hip Hop, der durch analoge Samples aus den 90er Jahren sehr gut in Szene gesetzt wird. Perfekter Soundtrack für die nachmittägliche Relaxung auf der heimischen Kautsch.
