Billa Qause – Somehow Someway (Mind The Wax)
Ich wäre fast dem Irrtum erlegen, dass „Billa Qause – Somehow Someway“ meine erste Begegnung mit dem griechischen Beatschmied ist. Aber nix da. Bei den Compilations Tales of Another Direction Vol. 2 und The Solar Panel hat er hier im Vinyl-41-HQ schon deutliche Spuren hinterlassen. Sein aktuelles und mittlerweile sechstes Soloalbum ist im Oktober 2019 über Mind The Wax (MTW003) erschienen.
Für „Somehow Someway“ hat Billa Qause 12 Tracks produziert. Bei drei Tunes hat er die musikalische Kompetenz von Krus und Kill Emil genutzt. Passt! Herausgekommen ist eine Platte, die von den guten alten 90er Jahren inspiriert wurde. Die entspannten Boom Bap Beats mit Samples von Soul- und Jazz-Scheiben klingen wie ein Album aus der Golden Era. Meine Wertung: 8/10. Favoriten: „Light My World“, „True Thoughts“ und „Playin‘ Yourself“. Die Online-Shops von HHV und Decks haben noch ein paar Kopien gelistet …
