Mit „Crown Jewels Vol. 1“ (BC100LP) werden nicht die Kronjuwelen verscherbelt, sondern stolz präsentiert. Big Crown Records präsentiert die erste Label Compilation mit einigen (mir) bekannten und unbekannten Künstlern. Zwölf Tracks haben auf dem wunderbar souligen »Fools Gold Colored Vinyl« Platz gefunden. Label Co-Boss Leon Michels ist natürlich mit El Michels Affair auch an Bord. Neben ihm und seiner Kappelle ist ein großartiger Querschnitt der 2016 gegründeten Record Company zu entdecken und zu bewundern. Exzellente Zusammenstellung, die mich schon jetzt nach Vol. 2 lechzen lässt.
Meine Wertung: 9/10. Favoriten: „Lee Fields & The Expressions – It Rains Love“, „Lady Wray – Guilty“ und „Brainstory – Dead End“. Die Platte ist direkt bei Big Crown, bei Bandcamp sowie in den hiesigen Online-Shops von HHV Records und JPC erhältlich.

Der doppelte Long Player „Harleighblu x Bluestaeb – She“ ist Anfang November 2019 im Vinyl-41-HQ gelandet. Das Album (+ Instrumentals) ist über HHV Records (HHV818) in zwei Deluxe Editions erschienen: „grey colored vinyl“ (300 Kopien) und schwarzes Polyvinylchlorid. Für das Artwork sind Leon Giseke und Tim Wetter verantwortlich. Die Coverfotos hat Svenja Trierscheid beigesteuert. Das Mastering stammt aus der Analogschmiede zinomikorey.com.
Wieder mal ein Album, bei dem (für mich) alles passt. Die soulige Stimme von Harleighblu aus Nottingham, England ist wie das fehlende Puzzleteil zu den Produktionen von Bluestaeb. Der europäische Beatschmied hat für „She“ insgesamt 13 Tunes gebastelt, die auf den Seiten C und D auch in reinster Form als Instrumentals zu geniessen sind. Die basslastigen Hip Hop Beats zwischen (Neo-)Soul und R’n’B haben schon allein die Höchstwertung verdient. Aber auch die Seiten A und B, die mit dem spektakulären Gesang von Harleighblu exzellent gefüllt sind, konnten den Maximalwert auf keinsten runterdrücken. Großartiges Album, dass meine fast fertige Jahreswertung für 2019 nochmal ordentlich umkrempelt.
Meine Wertung: 10/10. Favoriten: „Queeen Dem“, „Call“, „Cake“ und „Too Young“. Erhältlich ist das Prachtstück in den Online-Stores von HHV und Fatbeats.

Mit „Dj Booker Tapes – Vol. 1 Orange“ ist vor kurzem das erste Tape vom Künstler und vom griechischem Label Encounter Tapes (ET14) im Vinyl-41-HQ eingetroffen. Und das Ding gefällt mir gleich mal so gut, dass ich schon jetzt auf Vol. 2 hoffe. Die Kassette des DJs und Label Chefs (Breathe Records) aus Saloniki ist beidseitig prall gefüllt mit einem exzellenten (Re)Mix aus groovigen Hip Hop Beats und souligen Samples. „Vol. 1 Orange“ ist ein richtig sattes Feel Good Magnetband, dass ihr euch auf der Bandcamp-Seite des Labels zulegen könnt.
Das Tape „Lost Son – Flying Colors“, dass bereits im Juni 2018 erschienen ist, habe ich erst vor kurzem und rein zufällig entdeckt. Aber wie immer gilt: Besser spät als nie. Verpasst hätte ich 10 Instrumental Tracks der besseren Sorte. Oldshoolige Hip Hip Beats mit grandios souligen Samples füllen das exzellente Tape. Den verlorenen Sohn aus Griechenland behalte ich ab jetzt im Auge, damit ich bei der nächsten Veröffentlichung nicht wieder so spät dran bin. „Flying Colors“ könnt ihr euch bei Bandcamp entweder digital als („name your price“) Stream / Download oder analog als Kassette (REM0011 / 8 Euro zzgl. Versand) zulegen.

Everybody’s Talkin‘ About The Good Ol‘ Days! Was die Mitglieder des W-Tang Clan sampeln, kann nicht so schlecht sein. Also ab damit auf Vinyl. Alle vier Episoden von „Shaolin Soul“ beherbergen eine grandiose Auswahl mit feinstem Soul. Die im Jahr 1998 erstmalig erschienene Kult-Compilation (Episode 1) dreht hier im Vinyl-41-HQ als Reissue (Episode 1-4) vom französischen Label Because Music seine Runden. Alle acht Platten haben einen Premiumplatz in meinem Regal gefunden. Meine Wertung: 10/10. Favoriten: Alle(s)!
