Dj Drinks – Nightline (We Stay True)

Im Juni 2019 ist das Album „Dj Drinks – Nightline“ über We Stay True (WST-006) erschienen. Das Design von Cover und Platte wurde von BEE Graphics entworfen und umgesetzt. Für das Mastering stand Ken Long an den analogen Endgeräten.

Dj Drinks aka The Summit und eine Hälfte der Armed Dukes hat für sein erstes Album unter neuem Namen 13 Instrumental Hip Hop Tracks produziert. Die oldschooligen und rohen Boom Bap Beats mit knisternd jazzigen Samples hat er seinen Geräten namens EMU Systems SP1200 und Emax entlockt. „Nightline“ ist ein brilliantes Album mit dem besonderen Hauch der Golden Era.

Meine Wertung: 8/10. Favoriten: „Rocks“, „Theme (iii)“ und „Particles“. Das Vinyl könnt ihr euch direkt bei We Stay True oder bei HHV Records zulegen.

Heute und zwischendurch mal locker und flockig ein paar digitale EP / Alben, die mir in dieser Woche positiv aufgefallen sind. Den Start macht das kalifornische Label Cold Busted mit der neuen Reihe und dem ersten Teil „About To Happen“. Thema: »4 beats from 4 artists taken from 4 releases that are About To Happen« Schönes Ding! Danach möchte ich euch noch die Instrumentals von Flitz&Suppe „Déjà​-​rêvé“ und Autumn Keys „Harvest II“ ans Herz legen. Zurücklehnen, Kopfnicken, Geniessen.

Instro Bistro Vol. 1 – Soul Sushi

Das Instrumental Album „Instro Bistro Vol. 1 – Soul Sushi“ ist über das Label LabOhr erschienen. Zuerst erreichte im Mai 2019 die Kassette den Hip Hop Markt und Anfang Oktober 2019 folgte dann endlich das Vinyl. Die Platte wurde über QRATES vorfinanziert und ist auf 202 Kopien limitiert. Das Artwork hat Enzo Eyeris übernommen. Für Mixing und Mastering ist der Beatfux verantwortlich.

Der erste Teil von Instro Bistro befasst sich mit dem Thema (Soul) Sushi. Schmeckt mir nicht, klingt aber verdammt gut. 17 rohe Instrumental Hip Hop Tracks (inkl. Intro und Outro) haben Enzo Eyeris und Beatfux aka perFiktion für Vol. 1 produziert. Dabei sind richtig fette Beats mit grandiosen Samples aus Soul und Volksmusik entstanden. Exzellenter Einstand vom Beat Bistro. Ich bin schon gespannt, welcher Food Klassiker für Vol. 2 bespielt wird. Vielleicht Furious Fritten oder so?

Meine Wertung: 9/10. Favoriten: „Jugende“, „Stay Back“, „Warsaw Affair“ und „Prove It To Myself“. Erhältlich ist das Vinyl (und auch das Tape) direkt im LabOhr. Aber auch unsere Lieblings-Platten-Dealer HHV Records und VinDig haben ein paar Kopien zum Verkauf gelistet.

„IOM – Four“

ist das vierte Album des Wiener Beatschmieds. Ob das irgendwie zusammenhängt? Hmmm … wie auch immer ;-) Das süperbe Tape ist über das Independent Record Label beatsupply erschienen. Die 16 Tracks mit Beats zwischen LoFi und Boom Bap passen perfekt auf den analogen Datenträger aka Kassette. Durchweg guter Stuff, aus dem sich für mich drei Favoriten herauskristallisiert haben: „Little Crown“, „Dolls Minus Five“ und „In Every Move“.

Die Kassette, die ich wärmstens empfehlen kann, könnt ihr euch direkt beim Label oder bei Bandcamp zulegen. Aber schnell und so … es sind nur noch wenige Tapes verfügbar.

flughand x steichi – nagutok ep (Vinyl Digital)

Der 10-Zöller „flughand x steichi – nagutok ep“ ist im September 2019 über das Label Vinyl Digital (VinDig419) erschienen. Zwei Versionen werden bzw. wurden vertrieben: 50x Vinyl mit Kaffeebecher und Kaffee (sold out) sowie 250x Vinyl mit ohne. Für das wunderschöne Design von Cover und Platte sind die Herren Volker Döring und Max Duchardt verantwortlich. Das Mastering hat Jan Noa übernommen.

Neun entspannte Instrumental Hip Hop Tracks hat das musikalische Duo für das mittlere Vinyl-Format produziert. Die chilligen Lofi Beats stammen aus den Geräten des Leipziger Beatschmieds flughand, der mich schon mit den Alben foremmi und Peaceful Weibs durchaus begeisterte. Für die „nagutok ep“ hat er saxophonistische Mithilfe von steichi erhalten. Wie sagt man so schön? flughand und steichi, die beiden matchen perfectly. Schönes Ding!

Meine Wertung: 9/10. Favoriten: „goodtaste“, „minun“ und „sepia“. Die EP ist noch – kaffeelos und exklusiv – im Online-Shop des Labels verfügbar. Noch. Haut rein!

Now we’re happy to welcome Steichi as a new figure to the cosmos. He is a Sax player, a friend and a coffee lover who totally catched Flughand’s vibe. After numerous sessions together they developed their first collaboration project – the „nagutok ep“. It expresses the serene and composed vibe with unexcited but beautiful sax tunes between laid-back drums and ongoing hats which just fit perfectly right.«
