Oh mein Gott. Erst diese Tapes aka Kassetten und jetzt auch noch Musik in digital? Ja, denn manchmal sind die coolen Beattapes nicht, noch nicht oder nicht mehr auf Vinyl oder Kassette verfügbar. Oder die Versandkosten übersteigen den Preis des analogen Tonträgers um ein vielfaches. Oder, oder, oder … Dann muss es in Ausnahmefällen auch mal mit Streams und Downloads von Bandcamp, iTunes, Spotify, Amazon und diversen anderen Internet-Plattformen funktionieren. Deshalb: Ausnahmsweise digital!

Nach etwas Rumstreunerei auf Bandcamp bin ich auf das Album AUTOHYME – HEADSPACE gestossen und es hat mich gleich total fasziniert. Denn irgendwie ist dieses digitale Instrumental Tape von Jason The Argonaut ein Flashback in eine vergangene Zeit. Die 20 Tracks des kalifornischen Beat Smith erinnern mich streckenweise an Captain Future, an antike Sci-Fi Serien / Filme und an den Song Rah Band – Clouds Across The Moon. Und ein bisschen Stranger Things ist auch dabei. Alles sehr spacig, alles sehr awesome. HEADSPACE steht bei Bandcamp als „name your price“ Download / Stream und als Kassette (limitiert auf 50 Stück / 10 USD + Versand) zur käuflichen Mitnahme bereit.

Die Kassette Dr. Drumah – Creation & Foundation hätte ich dem Label 77 Rise Recordings gern abgekauft. Aber auch hier greift wieder meine Maxime: Kaufe keinen analogen Datenträger, wenn das Porto teurer als das Produkt ist. „Cassette €8.57 EUR, plus €10.28 shipping for Germany.“ Tja, schade Schokolade. Denn das Ding ist richtig gut. Dr. Drumah, der im Vinyl-41-HQ schon mit seiner Platte Drumahmental (IBMCs) für Furore sorgte, hat mit dem Tape mal wieder ordentlich einen rausgehauen. Die 15 instrumentalen Tracks zwischen Hip Hop und Reggae erweisen sich als grossartige Mischung. Perfekter und dancehalliger Soundtrack für den anhaltend strengen Sommer.

nennt sich das erste Werk einer jazzlastigen Instrumental-Hip-Hop-Serie, die von Paul Wilbury initiiert wurde. Erschienen ist der erste Teil über das von mir sehr geschätzte Label Aviary Bridge Records. Der Jazz Drummer und Hip-Hop Producer hat für JAZZ SHIT & REAL BOOK 11 total relaxte Tracks mit jazzigen Beats und Samples gebastelt. Schade, dass es „nur“ digital veröffentlicht wurde. Wäre total passend für ein Release auf Vinyl oder Kassette. Aber wiederum gut das es veröffentlicht wurde, denn mir gefällt das Beattape total gut.
