Nach On The Radar (OTR) und The Jazz Jousters startet das englische Label Millennium Jazz Music mit Mellow Mania eine weitere Instrumental Serie. Den Anfang macht das Album Flitz&Suppe – Mellow Mania #1 – Zeolith, von dem 200 Vinyl gepresst wurden. Bei Bandcamp kann man sich das Instrumental Hip Hop Album für schlanke 16 britische Pfund (zzgl. Porto und Versand) zulegen.

Meine Wertung: 9/10 für Flitz&Suppe – Mellow Mania #1 – Zeolith. Der in Köln beheimatete Beatschmied durfte für das Debüt-Album der Instrumental Serie Mellow Mania 15 chillige Tracks produzieren. B-Side, Rising Nature, Devaloop und Tusken haben an einer handvoll Tracks mitgebastelt. Entstanden ist daraus ein sehr ruhiges Album, dass einen sachte mit dem Kopf nicken lässt, ohne sich wirklich dabei zu verausgaben. Der sanfte Wahnsinn in Downtempo. Neben Don Philippe – Red Flower eine der entspanntesten Platten in meiner Sammlung.

Favoriten: Losing feat. B-Side, Elevate feat. Rising Nature und OdeToYouII

Nach den Chillhoppern machen jetzt auch die Mädels und Jungs vom Label Aviary Bridge Records regelmässig in Season Compilations. Auf Herbst aka Autumn folgt jetzt konsequenterweise das Winter Compilation Album. Sie sind damit vielleicht ein paar Tage zu spät dran. Aber wir wollen mal nicht päpstlicher als der Instrumental-Papst sein. Denn das Tape ist richtig gut. Die 13 anwesenden Produzenten bieten eine fette Mischung aus Ambient, Downtempo, Drum & Bass, Electronic, Hip Hop und Triphop. Für mich die beste Kassette, die bisher von Aviary Bridge Records veröffentlicht wurde. Momentan sind bei Bandcamp noch 9 Exemplare verfügbar. Zuschlagen, bevor der nächste Winter erscheint.

„As we did for Autumn, we challenged our current roster of artists to create a track for Winter. This time the tracks have been inspired by a picture of the Northern Lights, with an aim to capture the feeling of being in awe of nature’s magic.

Fourteen different artists submitted their take. Each track demonstrates our artists‘ various genres, vibes and skill sets. However, the album flows seamlessly as a spectrum of this singular theme. Demonstrating how a idea can be interpreted in various ways.“

Es gibt mal wieder ein vinyles Debüt aus dem Hause Vinyl Digital zu vermelden. Kova – Stay Tuned! nennt sich das erste Album des Berliner Beat Smith. Die als sehr hübsche Clear Red Edition (VinDig322) daherkommende Platte wurde in einer limitierten Auflage von 300 Kopien gepresst und kann direkt bei VinDig geordert werden.

Wertung

Meine Wertung: 8/10 für Kova – Stay Tuned!. Der Berliner Beatschmied hat für sein Debüt-Vinyl satte 25 Tracks produziert. Funkig bis jazzige Hip Hop Beats treffen auf soulige Samples. Diese Mischung trifft mein Instrumental-Herz ganz tief. Besonders hängengeblieben ist mir das Sample, dass er für Mommy Dearest verwendet hat. Kenne ich, kann es aber nicht zuordnen. Egal! Garniert hat Kova die fetten Beats mit Voiceschnipseln antiker englischsprachiger TV-Sendungen. Passt, gefällt, bringt Spass. Gelungener Erstling, der auch noch verdammt gut aussieht!

Favoriten: Mommy Dearest, The Time Machine und The Message

Russian Province Vol. 1 und 2 (Lo-Fi Opposition)

Keine Ahnung, nach was ich eigentlich wirklich gesucht habe. Aber beim Rumstöbern auf Bandcamp bin ich irgendwann auf das russische Label Lo-Fi Opposition und die Compilation Russian Province gestossen. Vol. 1 und 2 wurden 2017 veröffentlicht und haben 10 bzw. 13 Tracks mit chilligem Instrumental Hip Hop an Bord. Die Produzenten sagen mir zum grossen Teil überhaupt nichts. Aber genau das ist der Reiz bei diesen Samplern. Beide Teile kann man sich für ein paar Euros bei Bandcamp sichern, leider nur digital (oder immerhin).

Knapp 10 Monate musste man bzw. ich auf ein neues Release des Berliner Plattenlabes Dub Disco warten. Das hat jetzt mit DUDI004 ein Ende. Dub Disco presents Aporia + Remixes kommt, wie die drei Vorgänger auch, im schlichten Design daher. Auf ein Cover-Artwork wurde erneut verzichtet. Lediglich die Label auf den Vinyl-Seiten A und B wurden Dub-Disco-typisch verziert. Die EP kann man sich bei Bandcamp für 13 Euro (+ Porto und Versand) zulegen.

Dub Disco: „Group efforts are always a great thing. Lengthy in part but very much rewarding in the end. And this is exactly what is happening with the next Dub Disco Release: What was supposed to be a Remix record, in the beginning, turned out to be much more! But first, let us introduce Aporia. Born and raised in New Zealand and located in Berlin, he showcases a blend of synth-pop and Balearic gentleness or as he describes it; “Supernatural synthetic, tropical rock n roll”. In 2016 he released his first album ‘Almost Tropical’ on cassette via Cosmic Compositions & Prison Tapes, featuring the tracks Jupiter’s Goldcoast and Stereo Moon. The cassette now being sold out we decided to put it on our next record, alongside some remixes from friends and family. Quickly we received remixes by the likes of Aussteiger, LITS801, S&W and Cosmic Palms and decided to include 5 tracks by Aporia himself, turning an initial 4 track project into a 9 track long EP.

A-Side contains 4 Remixes and the B-Side comes with 5 warm soulful melodic super original tracks.“

Wertung

Meine Wertung: 8/10 für Dub Disco presents Aporia + Remixes. Neben den hier im Blog oft vertretenen Instrumental Hip Hop Platten habe ich noch eine andere kleine Leidenschaft. Diese wurde durch das Label Dub Disco und der ersten veröffentlichten EP Dub Disco presents S&W entfacht. Die Mischung aus Boogie, Disco, Electro und House lässt mich beim Abspielen des Vinyl immer etwas rumzappeln und obendrein soll ein leichtes Lächeln in meinem Gesicht auftauchen. So auch bei dieser EP. Auf Seite A befinden sich vier Remixe von älteren Aporia Tracks im vorher beschriebenen Genre-Mix. Für Seite B kommen fünf Songs des namensgebenden Künstlers im für ihn typischen Synth Pop Style zum Einsatz. Die meisten stammen von seinem Tape Almost Tropical (2016 / Cosmic Compositions / CC015)Gute Laune und eine Priese souliger Gelassenheit, der perfekte Mix für die kurze Entspannung zwischendurch.
