Nachdem im Dezember 2018 die Tour De Manège Compilation „Special East Coast“ erschienen ist, war es natürlich nur eine Frage der Zeit, bis die Sampler-Sonne im Westen aufgeht. Mit „Special West Coast“ hat das International Beatmaker’s Collective im April 2019 folgerichtig und sauber nachgelegt. Beide Alben beinhalten grossartigen Instrumental Hip Hop, der in keiner digitalen Sammlung fehlen sollte. Die Soundtracks der Ost- und Westküste könnt ihr euch bei Bandcamp als „name your price“ Download / Stream zulegen.

Über das Label EASTBLVD RECORDS aus Los Angeles, California, USA ist mal wieder eine kleine Instrumental Perle erschienen. Marleau – The Leau Vault Vol. One (EB009) nennt sich das Beattape, dass bei mir momentan sehr häufig im Einsatz ist. Der Beatsmith aus Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada hat für dieses digitale Album 10 Tracks mit Lo-fi Hip Hop Beats und total interessanten Samples und Voice-Schnipseln produziert. Wertung

Meine Wertung: 8/10 für Moka Only – Concert for One (Instrumentals). Der umtriebige Beat Smith aus Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada hat die Instrumentals quasi zweitverwertet. Guter move, für mich jedenfalls. Denn die Beats machen auch (oder gerade) in der sprachlosen Variante total viel Spass. Die 20 Tracks sind staubig, roh und jazzig. Genau so, wie man es von der Indy-Legende erwartet.

Favoriten: Featuring Drake, Right There und Real Simple Real Mellow

Inner Ocean Records, 99 Instrumental Hip Hop Tracks, verteilt auf zwei Kassetten. Das sind die kurzen Eckdaten für BLESS Vol. 2. Die beiden Tapes sind, wie auch schon beim ersten Teil, randvoll gefüllt mit bekannten und unbekannten Produzenten und viel Qualität. Da hat die A&R Abteilung vom Label aus Calgary wieder ganze Arbeit geleistet. Wertung

Meine Wertung: 8/10 für HOME GROWN. Für diese Compilation durften 15 Beatschmiede 15 Instrumental Hip Hop Tracks produzieren. Herausgekommen ist dabei eine total chillige und jazzige Lo-Fi-Platte, bei der man eigentlich nur entspannen kann. Neben Eevee und Dominic Pierce gab es für mich wieder einige neue Produzenten zu entdecken, die ich bestimmt weiter beobachten werde. Jetzt genug der Schreiberei, HOME GROWN aufgelegt und Relaxung pur.

Favoriten: Soho – Cenario, Idealism – Evenings und Borealism – Hxmegrxwn

Die schon sehr sportliche Anzahl von 62 Beatschmieden und 62 Tracks von FUTURES Vol. 4 hat das Label Inner Ocean Records jetzt noch mal locker getoppt. Für FUTURES Vol. 5 hat das kanadische Label 73 Produzenten ins Rennen geschickt, die ebensoviele Tracks gebastelt haben. Hamma! Verteilt wurden die Instrumental Hip Hop Tracks auf zwei hübsche Kassetten, Red Crystal und Blue Crystal. Ich habe heute die Compilation 2,5 Stunden am Stück durchgehört und mich hat nichts gestört. Da hat der gute Mike mit seiner Auswahl ganze Arbeit geleistet. Ich bin schon gespannt, ob FUTURES Vol. 6 die 100er Marke knackt ;-)

Ach ja, kleiner negativer Punkt aka Schönheitsfehler: beide Kassetten sind mit „Tape No.1“ beklebt. Zum Glück ist aber beim Inhalt alles in Ordnung.

Meine Wertung: 8/10 für Dominic Pierce – Hoop Loops. Schickes Cover, Slurpee Pink Vinyl und 21 instrumentale Hip Hop Tracks, eine wirklich gelungene Kombination. Das Album besticht mit wummernden Beats und R&B Samples, die einen in die Achtziger und frühen Neunziger zurückreisen lassen. Die smoothe Platte ist quasi die pinkfarbene Pille gegen schlechte Stimmung.

Bisher habe ich bei Inner Ocean Records „lediglich“ Tapes geordert. Nach Dominic Pierce – Hoop Loop$ folgt jetzt mit HOME GROWN (V. A.) mein zweites Vinyl vom kanadischen LoFi-Label. Auch dieses Vinyl sieht nicht nur sehr hübsch aus (Sky Blue + Pink Haze Vinyl), es ist wieder mit feinstem instrumentalem Hip Hop gefüllt. Inner Ocean hat 300 Kopien pressen lassen. Über das Label EASTBLVD RECORDS, das hier schon mal mit dem Tape OPAQUE – Moods Erwähnung fand, ist die EP Phil Austrom – Origins erschienen. Auch wenn die EP nur 4 Tracks stark ist und lediglich digital verfügbar ist, der in Vancouver beheimateten Trompeter hat mit Origins ein starkes Solo Debüt hingelegt. Vielleicht hört man ja demnächst noch mehr von Phil Austrom, dann auch gern als Tape oder Vinyl.

„Grandhuit is a Beatmaker/Artist from Reunion Island; After travelling different parts of the world; making connections to create Tour De Manège (with GooMar and JoBer) he found his place in Montreal in 2013; where he continues to develop new artistic and musical projects in the worldwide beat scene.

Atamone is a Montreal born Producer/Artist from the far North of Canada. After growing up many years in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories; He pursued studies in Sound Design for Visual Media in Vancouver; Eventually moving back home to Montreal in 2011 to focus on his personal projects.

In 2016; the 2 artists meet to create a new project; binding both creative minds and cultures.

Venture is the result of a year experimenting with samples and exploring new shapes in sounds. Illustrated by JoBer and produced by Dj FIP (Reality Check), Venture is the second episode of the Astral Factor’s story introduced by GooMar.“

Meine Wertung: 8/10 für GrandHuit & Atamone – Venture. Die beiden Beatschmiede, die in Reunion Island und Montreal beheimatet sind, haben mit dieser Platte ein grossartiges Debüt hingelegt. Mit DJ FIP an ihrer Seite haben sie 10 Tracks produziert, die durchweg Spass machen. Wie schon beim designierten Vorgänger GoomarThe Astral Factor ist das Album Venture prall gefüllt mit feinstem instrumentalem Hip und Trip Hop. Genau so, wie es der Schreiber dieser Zeilen mag.

invention, der mich schon mit dem Vinyl hibernature (Radio Juicy) begeistert hat, ist jetzt mit einem neuen Album unterwegs. invention – alcyone nennt sich das Ding und ist Ausnahmsweise digital bei Chillhop Records erschienen.

Eigentlich erscheint das Album aus dem Radio Juicy – Urban Waves – HHV – Joint Venture erst am 23.08.2017. Aus irgendeinem Grund oder durch irgendeine höhere Macht hat das Vinyl „invention – hibernature“ (HHV645) schon vor dem offiziellen Release seinen Weg in meinen Briefkasten gefunden. Und das ist auch gut so. Denn je eher man das richtig gute Album hört, umso länger hat man etwas davon.

Wertung für invention – hibernature

Meine Wertung: 8/10 für „invention – hibernature“. Vom Album kann man bis zum offiziellen Release am 23.08.2017 bei Bandcamp nur zwei Titel vorhören. ｍ●◑ｎ.ｓｈ○ｗｅｒ und ｑｕｅｒｅｎｃｉａ, mehr nicht. Um so mehr war ich auf das Vinyl gespannt. Was soll ich sagen … Hamma! Aufgelegt und komplett durchgehört. Was für ein entspanntes Album, lo-lo-fi sozusagen. Das Klavier gehört eigentlich nicht zu meinen favorisierten Instrumenten. Aber hier passt es wie die Faust aufs Auge. Gemeinsam mit den jazzigen Beats und den gut passenden Naturgeräuschen sorgt der tastengetriebene Holzkasten für eine überaus chillige Stimmung. Die Platte macht richtig Spass und lässt einen komplett relaxen.

Mein Tipp: schnell zuschlagen, denn das Vinyl ist auf knappe 300 Kopien limitiert. Hier könnt ihr schon mal reinhören:
